Tintin, I don't think you'll get a decision until mid-February since Faculty Review begins on Friday. But, I do envy your FR status. Some of us are in a strange limbo of silence.

Do you happen to know if all the FR decisions come out at once (around Feb 19), or might there be decisions along the way once the committee starts meeting? Just curious.

On LSN last year, there were multiple waves of rejections and admittances throughout the period of FR. But these came from applicants who went complete in December and January...so I'm guessing most of these decisions came straight from Dean Tom during AR. If you look at 02-19-09, there is a LONG list of admittances, rejections and waitlists. My guess is that FR is a single wave and you'll hear in mid-February.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that there are 2 FRs: one in February and one in March.

However, this year is different due to the large number of applicants, furloughs, etc. So, I could be completely wrong. Regardless, I hope you receive happy news...and soon. :D

They told us in the FR notification email that they were meeting on Jan. 29th and we would have decisions by Feb. 19th, at least that's how I read it.

edited to say: "in the *FR notification* email"

I went UR on 12/7 and still haven't heard anything.

I have a 167/3.8 (with a 4.0 for the last 2 years), strong softs, and URM (LGBTQ mind you); my stomach is doing flip-flops thinking about my chances. Berkeley is definitely my top choice; the waiting is so nerve wracking!

Same, but I did find the rejection e-mail to be very nice. Much nicer than G-towns.

I think one of the reasons I didn't apply to G-town (besides that fact that I knew there was no way my LSAT would get me in) was their legendarily mean rejection letter. Those Hoyas are harsh.

Yeah seriously, it was like hey. listen. you're just got good enough for us, we have 12,000 other people to choose from and you thought we'd chose you...lulz. TTY never.
-Gtown

Meanwhile Berkeley's was like hey, you're great. It's not you it's me. I'm sure you'll end up at HYS and so we couldn't even begin to think about having you at our lowly school.
Hugs and Kisses,
Dean Tom

Yeah, same one. It definitely didn't leave me with as big of a sting...well it took as much sting out as possible. It still sucks of course.

I'm pretty sure I have all of you beat... UR 10/19! No ding, no FR. All I hear are crickets chirping and the sound of my own sobbing.

Another UR 10/19 here. Would you other 10/19ers who don't have stats in your profile mind posting them? Just trying to get a feeling for who's left. 167/3.8 here with interesting softs.

Hopping on the 10/22-and-no-word-at-all boat. I hate boats.

Just curious, is LGBT usually considered URM? I did not know that.

It's not, unfortunately. If it gives a boost, the boost is imperceptible. (As I've said elsewhere, T might provide a significant boost, but the sample size is too small to study; the rest definitely don't.)

Thanks. Also, I read Dean Tom's interview and was interested in the Prop 209 answers. What is the general consensus with Prop 209? Does that really change how a California school looks at an URM? It just seems impossible to me that a school can't look at the fact that you come from a diverse background. How do you put that out of your mind.

I don't mind sharing. I'm a 163/3.84 here. Hoping that high GPA does something for me...

Any other FR kids getting excited? Something about knowing that they're starting to look at our applications tomorrow makes me nervous...

And I submitted a LOCI earlier this week but haven't gotten any confirmation on it... is Boalt OK with applicants calling them and asking about that stuff?

you can't get on the waitlist unless you are sent to FR. So for the people who are left with no answer, including myself (UR 11/17) there's either a new ding round coming up, a surprise acceptance, or a late notice FR email.

Oh...I didn't know that. My stats are 165/3.8 URM, interesting softs. Looking at other people's numbers, I think it's either a delayed FR email or dings.
