I'm under review since 11/9, so I certainly hope not! If you're out, I'm out.

It seemed like they took a lot of 11/2 URs today.

They're going to send emails and update the status checker within a week or two of decisions, according to some people who got calls.

Oh crap, I was an 11/2 UR. Time for me to start worrying...

This is what I think happens... I think they do go through the apps chronologically, but only to pick out the really great numbers and/or people who cured cancer. They get calls from Dean Tom. Then, I think they go back and get regular (but still competitive) Joes, and we get e-mails.

They are called loans. A monstrous pile of loans. You will be able to incur a sea of debt, and just as a fish is unaware that it is wet, the massive amount of debt will just wash over you to the point that it becomes an unnoticeable wetness.

I'm having the same concern. I LOVE Berkeley, but the cost is a little disconcerting. I know Berk has an aid matching program, and I'm (hopefully) expecting money from at least 1 of MVP... but I don't think Berkeley considers them peer schools. I won't be making any decisions until I get all of my aid packages.

I don't think UR date mattered. They said he can't call everyone, I assume he kind of picks and chooses the people to call, so naturally some people who went UR before 11/2 or whatever will get accepted but not via a call.

This is what I tell myself, at least.

I don't think UR means anything either. He didn't even go through the calls in chronological order (I was UR 10/23 and received one of the later calls), so I don't think if you're before some UR date that means you're rejected. Those files are most likely going under committee review - as most do - and many that go UCR are ultimately accepted.

IIRC, last year the schools that were eligible for matching were all of the T14, except NWern.

thank you guys for your responses to my question/concern! another followup- for the matching scholly program do they auto-match or do they have to review it and make a decision (leaving the possibility that they wont match it)? also, do they match it 100% or again is it a review process and determine an offer after seeing what else you were given? and finally, is there a link to the program where i can read about it? i never heard boalt had that but im really excited to hear they do!

thanks so much you guys!!

All I know is what's on the website--but it sounds a little bit vague.

Still, if you're really interested in Berkeley it might be worth a shot--here's the link:

Yeah so it's not guaranteed:

Am I guaranteed a Matching Scholarship if I apply for one? What are the selection criteria?

This is a competitive, merit-based scholarship program. Not all applicants who submit their materials will be offered a Matching Scholarship. Successful applicants will show potential for outstanding and unique contributions to the Berkeley Law community, both in and out of the classroom.

Blatant anti-NU trolling...by Berkeley.

I had NO idea Berkeley had this specific matching program. Though it's not a guarantee or anything, it makes me very excited.

I think it's actually very far from a guarantee recently. As in, most of the time it doesn't get taken. I think people have had more success with smaller scholarships from Chicago or NYU than with larger ones from MVPDCG.

Ha! Seriously, any guesses as to why Berkeley excludes NU from the list? Is it because NU is especially generous with its scholarship money (especially for those applicants who are strong enough to get into Berkeley), and Berkeley doesn't have the $$$ to match the NU offers? I wonder what the story is.

To those of you that missed the original call and called back, did he have to look up your file first before congratulating you, or did he know you by name?
