I think we can rest assured that there will not be a pre-Thanksgiving wave this year at Berkeley. While they might call one or two people in the next few hours, I find it extremely hard to believe that lots of people will be finding out before next week (at the earliest).tintin wrote:yeah...where are the calls!! looks like berkeley is breaking with tradition this year unless they really start calling a ton of people in the next few hours. I wonder if it's because apps are up?

Re: Berkeley 2010
Nah I don't think so. Apps are up everywhere (apparently), and every other school has managed to stay the course this year (Duke, UVA, Georgetown, UT, Michigan, UCLA, Harvard, etc.). Doesn't make sense that an influx of apps would affect Berkeley so strongly to make them delay to this extent. Must be something else.tintin wrote:I wonder if it's because apps are up?

Could be the riots going at a UCB over tuition hikes. Berkeley is like the student-riot capital of the world (could also argue that for Columbia, I guess).

Yeah that could be it, though I don't know why that would affect the admission timeline. I'd think protests (riots?) might affect the day-to-day stuff at UCB, but I'd think admissions are somewhat isolated from that. Eh, whatever, let's enjoy the holiday. I'm sure we'll start hearing next week.VoidSix wrote:Could be the riots going at a UCB over tuition hikes. The protests didn't really affect Boalt. They're probably just busy this year.

Heck yes riots. The police used tear gas on a group of students a week ago, haha.

Maybe we're supposed to call them?
Someone call for me! I still don't have a phone.

Re: Berkeley 2010
What's the worst that could happen?
"Gee, this kid is annoying but he's also a go-getter! ACCEPTED!"
And Dean Tom breaks out his ACCEPTED stamp and stamps your application twice for good measure.
On a side note, don't you wish they used ACCEPTED stamps? It would be so much more satisfying if when you got your letter, you also got your application back with a big ACCEPTED stamp across the top.
Or a scratch-n'-sniff sticker. I'd settle for that.

It's only 1:45 PST. Don't the calls normally come during the afternoon anyway? Don't make me give up hope for the day!

Think of it this way, if there are not a wave of calls, at least we get to start beheading people.roxj wrote:It's only 1:45 PST. Don't the calls normally come during the afternoon anyway? Don't make me give up hope for the day!
