Crossing my fingers for all of the WL folks -- especially you, Tintin! I didn't know anything about the quartile system until today, but 1st quartile sounds like a good place to be. :D

For those who called: do they actually give you a more certain number when you call, like you are ranked #x or "in the tens/twenties" or the quartile info is all you get?

Is it okay to hope, still? As soon as I found out my quartile yesterday, I felt this incredibly strong need, like wanting something so bad my whole body wanted to implode; the weight of generations bearing down on me yet also, lifting me beyond tiptoes. Oh my heart swelling.

 Wrote way more than I wanted to right there. Forgive me. I am only just a hopeful too.

Has anyone received word of a non-matching scholarship? Have pretty much all of those gone out, already?

General, I'm wondering the same thing but haven't been able to get any information out of Berkeley. Admissions directs me to Financial Aid, who directs me back to Admissions. I've had multiple emails ignored. I have no idea. Anybody?

i don't think boalt has dipped too far into the waitlist. last year, they only took 12. here's the interview with dean tom which i found pretty useful
but how many people did they go through on the waitlist to actually get those 12 people to attend? I assume a large number of people who remain on the waitlist would not actually accept if offered...

optimism ftw
I don't want to induce any pessimism here, but though I should chime in with my experience (although I think I contributed it much earlier on this thread). I was waitlisted last year, ranked in the 1st quartile. I didn't get in, so I think we can presumably say they didn't dip into the 2nd quartile last year.

I loved Berkeley so I applied only there last year, knowing I could broaden my scope this year. Anyway, I'm heading to Michigan and happy. Good luck to all of you, though!

I wasn't even sure if non-matching merit scholarships existed...but either way, I would imagine that most of their merit $ has been awarded at this point. I could be wrong though!

Withdrew today. As much as I'd like to be classmates with her at Chicago, I'm hoping Tintin gets my spot and $.

I know this might be a stupid question, because I haven't had too much time to look at the materials yet, but is there housing available for us? Or do we have to search on our own?

I'm scoping neighborhoods but officially plan to start looking in mid-June, when I'm hoping August 1st leases will start appearing on Craig's List.

haha good call. here's to hoping!

i also visited boalt yesterday, and though the facilities aren't as nice as others i've seen, i would give nearly anything to go there! cheeseboard, strada, gypsys everyday, that would be the life *sigh*
you wont be able to eat gypsys every day, you'll get sick of it after 8 days or so - first hand experience. you could eat cheeseboard every day though
