Nah, it can be under review for a few weeks or months (but they'll tell you if you got to faculty committee). So in my case, I got an email in mid-Jan telling me I had been sent to faculty committee and would have a solid decision by the end of Feb, which is about when I got it.
When will they tell you you've been sent to committee? I've been under review for 5 weeks now (along with all the other 10/19 people).
I think the dean looks at the app before the committee. So you won't hear that you were sent to committee until the Dean makes the first set of decisions, and only if they decide the app needs additional committee review. I think that is how it works anyways
Yeah I guess what I'm wondering is whether we would find out we were sent to committee on the same day that people received their acceptances, assuming we're all in the same under review group.
Like if they send out a big wave of acceptances to people who were under review 10/19 today or tomorrow, does that mean we'll also find out we've been sent to committee review today or tomorrow if we're under review 10/19?

As far as I'm able to tell, it doesn't work like this. They'll hold some apps that aren't the strongest auto admits and auto rejects (because it's so early and they want to look at your app in the context of everyone's). You shouldn't expect an immediate decision - hence my earlier post about chilling out.

This is what happens when you stick your neck out to help your fellow TLSers. Man, there is just no sympathy or slack on this board.
That being said... Let's Get Him.

There's been a lot of discussion about fees here. I think y'all might want to check out this used-to-be-live blog of the town hall meeting with Dean Edley that occured this afternoon.
Salient points:
- All fees will increase in the T14. Berkeley aims to be 10% below this.
- You get what you pay for.
- Berkeley is still rad.

1:06 - Ok, this is actually what you need to know. The benchmark is our competitors minuse $5k. They're projecting all peer schools to be at $57k by 2013. The crowd is skeptical.
The crowds aren't the only ones skeptical.

Last year, most of the pre-Thanksgiving acceptances were released on Wednesday rather than Tuesday of that week. So I wouldn't be disappointed not to receive a call today.
No updates on LSN so far. No news for anyone else = good news for you.

Your relatives are pretty demanding if they expect a pre-Thanksgiving acceptance at a marquee institution like Berkeley. The vast majority of applicants don't get one until at least December.
Some wise person pointed out that December is only a week away, not realizing that a week is about 20 years in TLS time.
