The website it directs you to (for uploading essays and resume) seems to indicate submitting two essays. The application directions and the application itself only indicated a personal statement so that's all I sent. I sent them an e-mail but haven't heard back. Just wondering if anyone else can shed light on this.
So it sounds like they are at least consistent (in that the application and the e-mail were inconsistent for everyone). I guess that means we will either all have to write the extra essay or we will all not have to write the extra essay. Again, will advise when I hear from them. But this makes me very anxious. I spent a 26 hour period making sure all my applications went out without any problems.guardgrl2013 wrote:Unadilla Kayaker wrote:I got an e-mail from Bama yesterday about status checkers. I received this e-mail yesterday. I e-mailed them as well and was really confused for a minute thinking I hadn't followed the directions. (I really thought that after they sent me the iTunes they were testing my loyalty.) I still haven't received a reply. I hope it's just a fluke and that I'll get my decision soon (applied 10/16).
It only asks for one essay, though. And it's pretty much the standard PS topic essay (at least it is if you wrote about overcoming adversity). The Zeppelin wrote:--LinkRemoved--
You'll see how the application instructions includes a slightly different essay from the actual application. This is why you can't trust Bama.

That depends how you interpret the application instructions. Common sense says that there's only one essay. Bama sense says that you complete the application (which includes one essay), pay the fee, and also provide an additional essay.hypermeganet wrote:It only asks for one essay, though. Still not as annoying as schools requiring applicants to submit a Dean's Certification. The Zeppelin wrote:That depends how you interpret the application instructions. Thanks for the clarification. I guess calling is less passive-aggressive than e-mail, but to be fair I got the e-mail at 9PM 'Bama time.App925 wrote:I called the Office of Admissions yesterday. They said that only one essay is required and that the email was a typo.

Dear Awesome Kayaker,
Thank you for your email. The email that was sent mentioning the requirement of a second essay is a computer glitch. Last year, we required two essays; this year, we do not. We do not know why last year's email went out from a server across campus, but we are looking into it. I am very sorry for the confusion. Please disregard the email you received yesterday. Thank you for applying to The University of Alabama School of Law. If I may ever be of any assistance, please let me know.
Sincerely,
Super Helpful Assistant Director of Admissions

Did it come separately from the huge acceptance binder/packet? Or was it included?Apple Tree wrote:Got my scholarship package this weekend. $27k a year, so I guess it's full tuition.
