On Access, there is nothing to indicate that my grad plus's have been certified, and there's no disbursement date. However, when I called SMU a couple of weeks ago to check on them, they said they had certified them... I guess I'm in the same boat you are?

I'm still waiting on SMU on my loan stuff. They keep telling me it's fine but I'm getting antsy.

All my stuff went through, and is certified on Access. But I filed my FAFSA a long time ago.

I have accepted my loans, but have no dispersement dates yet. How long did it take between acceptance and dispersement notification?

My stafford disbursement dates showed up around a week after I did the entrance counseling and signed the MPN (I also got an e-mail from smu notifying me of such), however, I haven't gotten any word about the 'big money' aka 47 grand for grad plus. I guess financial aid is as slow or slower than the admissions office, I swear I have called them around 15 times and have never once gotten a hold of anyone.

Kalvano, you actually have a loan details option next to your grad plus loan so that you can see a disbursement date on access?

And in the Fall 2010 section, it has disbursement dates next to PLUS loans.

yeah mine are certified as of recently. if you click on the loan details next to all the loans it should read

"Your loan application was certified by the FA Office and approved by your lender."

I guess this means I'm done? Do I have to do anything else? (noob at FA stuff)

Mine's the same as kalvano's. I filled out the FAFSA ages ago and did the entrance and MPN in over a month ago.

they told us last year that the examsoft for osx was originally supposed to be out for fall '09 finals, but in august '09 they knew it wouldn't be. so, there's a possibility examsoft for mac will come out. but, plan on getting windows --- the smu computer corner in the hughes-trigg student center has windows at a huge discount

I really thought I saw something from SMU (though maybe I read it here) that the exam software will work on macs this fall. I'll dig around.

There was a letter from IT dated June 21, 2010, that states:

Computer Based Exams. Most of our students choose to take the majority of their exams using their own notebook computers and the SofTest exam software...SofTest is compatible with Windows XP, Vista, and 7, and according to its developer, SofTest should be compatible with the Mac OS during the Fall 2010 semester. You will receive more information about SofTest in October.

So I guess I'll hold out on buying windows until we hear more about it.

Anyone doing the JD/MBA program? I was in Cox for undergrad and I'm still sort-of considering going for the mba as well. However the thought of having to take the gmat at some point this year and re-taking miserable accounting courses kind of makes me ill.

The idea of math makes me ill, so no MBA for me.

My degree is in accounting. Thought about JD/MBA, but I decided to just focus completely on law school. I can always get the CPA later if I decide it's worthwhile.

yeah i was finance and eco and i just looked at the mba curriculum and it's a glorified re-naming of all of the classes they already made me take in undergrad. The more i look into it the more i see people frown upon it.

I was in the business school at Wake and have no interest in taking any more finance, quantitative analysis, or accounting classes. Ever.

I have heard Cox is a legit MBA program though, so if you have the time, money, and desire to get an MBA/JD, SMU would be a solid place to go.

Cox is pretty much the best business school in the South. I have a few friends that went there, and it's apparently quite awesome.

Better prices from Newegg on system builder's copies.

http://www.newegg.com/Store/BrandSubCat ... ng-Systems

You can get Windows 7 Ultimate for $175.

I noticed the Windows 7 (32 bit and 64 bit) for 15 bucks (Contract pricing) in SMU Computer Corner, but the description says "Faculty/Staff Only."

Anyone manage to score a license as an undergrad or 1L?
