Yeah SMU was great in terms of turn around for their decisions. I waited 2+ weeks for some schools.

I also went Decision Rendered today on 2/23. I'm extremely nervous about this, since SMU is my top choice. I'm going to check my voicemail constantly all day tomorrow at the airport (flying across the country to Houston). Good luck to everyone else still waiting on a decision.

Re: SMU 2010!
Had narrowed it down to two at this point, I'm pretty surprised about the scholly so maybe it's 3 now! Yet it is still a big loan to take out, I'm going to take some time to really think about the field of law I want to go into and location then decide what is the best choice for me. Also need to consider housing and living costs, etc..utcris410 wrote:congrats! is this school at the top of your list?MixedGirl2009 wrote:scholly in the mail! $15,300 renewable

They're certainly up there. I can't really say what my top choice is as I haven't visited any schools yet, but I am most looking forward to visiting SMU.fallguy wrote:Is SMU your top choice then?JMBrown32 wrote:Just got the call! Accepted and 25,300 a year! Couldn't be happier!

I was accepted today via phone call at 3:00 pm. A lady named Maggie informed me of my acceptance and a scholarship worth $30,200 per year!!!!!! Way more than I expected. (164/4.0) good luck to everyone!

If I was DR on the 23rd but didn't receive a phone call today, is that a bad sign?

I think they continue to call at the end of the week. Last time did they change everyone's statuses on the same day or is there any chance my application complete will change tomorrow?

Re: SMU 2010!
Congratulations to the new admits!
I was going to see if anyone posting in this forum smarter than me (virtually all of you) has noticed this yet. If not, maybe somebody can give me a little insight to ease my worries here.
http://www.law.smu.edu/JDFinancial-Aid
Here, SMU says its COA is 59k.
http://smu.edu/srk/FinAid/graduate_cost.asp
Here, SMU estimates its COA (for financial aid calculation purposes) at 55k.
Why would they certify a student budget that is 4k less than the COA they have on the law school website?
The only reason I noticed this is because I was doing some number crunching and it looks like this is a really, really tight budget. They're allowance in the budget won't even cover they're own "Living Expenses" and "Misc" estimates after tuition and books are subtracted. Am I missing something here? Is this normal?
I don't really want to work that much (even though I am going to be enrolling in the part-time program), but I'm afraid I may have to if the highest amount they will certify for my lender is what is stated on the financial aid website.
Anybody have any thoughts on this?

Re: SMU 2010!
My guess would be the FinAid office hasn't updated their costs for 2010-11. The law school just updated theirs last week to reflect their tuition hike.cafloyd12 wrote:Congratulations to the new admits!
