I wonder if that's because they're hopeful that every year will be the year their yield shoots up to 60 percent or something. Is there any other logical explanation?
I'm not sure. Admissions folks said the yield for those who visit is quite higher (a little over the 60 percent number you cite), but yes, I think that they suffer from the loss of many cross-admits. I don't know if a lot of folks were lying, but I heard a lot of emphatic "I'm definitely coming here" or "I'm withdrawing from H/Y/etc. this week" during ASW. Not enough to grant a 60% yield or anything, but more than I was expecting.
