Looking at LSN, it looks like a lot of people with roughly the same stats as me (3.6, 170) have been accepted. It also looks like those who applied around when I did (mid-December) are all still pending, while many people who applied after us but with slightly higher numbers have been accepted in a shorter period of time.

Does this bode poorly for me?

I want to go here so badly!

I have higher stats than you (3.65/172) and I still haven't heard. Also applied December-ish. Wait and chill out.

I also have decent numbers for NYU (~median GPA, >median LSAT), but my application hasn't seemed to have followed what appears to be the normal process for everyone else. That is, I submitted mid-November, didn't go complete until early January and haven't heard a word since.

Given the normally quick turnaround that NYU has for applicants it likes, I'm getting a bit anxious. Though I think I might prefer the rest of the T6 to NYU for personal reasons, I think I'd much prefer NYU to the rest of the T14, especially because I'm interested in international law and public interest, especially with the Francophone world and the EU, for which they have a lot of offerings (including a JD/MA in French program). Thus, I would very much like to lock it up, since I haven't heard back from Chicago yet and I just had to submit a bunch of extra stuff after Columbia held me. I thought this wouldn't be an issue, so I didn't write any extra essays concerning my desire for NYU or my educational and career goals like I did for Columbia and Chicago.

Should I perhaps submit an unsolicited LOCI or additional writing sample to show them that I didn't apply as a second thought? I received a fee-waiver, but I had already submitted two or three days before it arrived in the mail, which would show that I actually wanted to apply there in the first place. But I highly doubt they ever double check anything like that. Has anyone else done anything like this? I've heard that submitting extra materials without being asked can be seen as kind of an annoyance. Any thoughts?

I applied in mid-October and am still waiting. Certainly not auto-admit numbers for NYU, but I'm around 50% on LSP, LSAT heavy.

Im about the same as you dms, almost identical on the numbers, same LSAT, about the same for GPA, applied mid-December, other than going complete in mid January haven't heard a peep or seen anything from NYU, although the longer it takes, the more worried I am that even with their LSAT-whore ways, the 172 just won't cut it this year without a stronger GPA :/

Anybody have an educated guess as to when those of us who were held ED will hear?

171 and 3.75, complete early November and still waiting. Pretty much lost hope by now. I really thought I had a legitimate chance, and I would absolutely enroll if they accept me now. I wish I ED'd :|

+1 to everything, except I applied a week or so later. Is it just me, or does the area at/below 3.5 but above 172 seem abnormally sparse? Where's the famous splitter love, NYU?

I know a 3.45/175 who got in a couple months ago.

Avocado, I got in with stats really similar to yours, so don't worry--I'm sure a purple envelope will be coming your way soon. :D

Thanks for the vote of confidence

If NYU is paying attention, I'll happily volunteer my green dot to fill in that lonely space on LSN.

I have a feeling that they want to get a better idea of all the applicants before making too many further acceptance decisions. I got an email from them today urging me to make sure my LSAC file is complete (waiting on the Feb score so my file is incomplete). Maybe they need to see how many people are in the mid 50% and what range they have to choose from so they can allocate the remaining spots effectively.
