Got the grade request as well. I am trying to decipher if it is a positive or negative sign. What is y'all's opinion.

Depends on the school. They'll at least be notified of new activity from you.Richard Rorty wrote:Got a grade update request as well.
I didn't know that LSAC will forward my new transcript to all my schools...will this delay all my other applications?

Negative if it goes down to where you are under any 25/50/75th which you were at or above before. Positive if it goes up.rsg87 wrote:Got the grade request as well. I am trying to decipher if it is a positive or negative sign. What is y'all's opinion.

People who got the grade request: what are your numbers? Mine are in my profile. A grade request makes sense for me because I'm cc transfer with 1 horrible term at my new school, and two subsequent terms above the median.

it at least means you aren't auto-ding, which is a good sign IMOrsg87 wrote:Got the grade request as well. I am trying to decipher if it is a positive or negative sign. What is y'all's opinion.

Re: NYU 2010
Ugh. Fortunately, I haven't been asked for fall grades yet, and I'm hoping not to be asked. My fall grades dropped my overall GPA slightly, from 3.78 to 3.76. This still leaves me in NYU's 50-75th range, which, with my well-above 75th LSAT, should be fine for admission either way. But, the drop puts me at Stanford's 25th, closer to Harvard's 25th (although still in the 25-50th range) and further below Yale's 25th, all places I'd rather not drop. On the other hand, NYU is my top choice short of HYS because of its strong urban/environmental law program, so I wouldn't want to sacrifice all chance at NYU to maybe still be rejected from HYS.jimmyd11011 wrote:Hypothetical situation: Say NYU just asked an applicant for a fall transcript to be sent through LSAC, but the applicant's GPA went down that semester. Could one make the argument that it could be a good idea not to send the transcript (because LSAC would forward the new GPA to all of the schools the applicant has applied to), and while this might lead to an NYU rejection, it could preserve the applicant's chances of getting into other schools that haven't asked for fall grades and improve his/her chance of scholarship money at schools he/she has already been accepted?
NYU adcomms, if you're reading this, please trust that my GPA is just fine and don't request fall grades. Kthx.

Are you guys sending an LOCI via email/mail along with the transcript update?

I am going to do this for all schools now to explain my drop.hopefulundergrad wrote:Are you guys sending an LOCI via email/mail along with the transcript update?
I guess its not all bad news for people requested for fall grades; usually other schools send out these requests with waitlists and rejections. At least I know I am not rejected (yet). I guess we will see if rejections start rolling in over the next week.

I sent in an updated transcript to LSAC after last semester, because my GPA went up, so I figured why not. My updated transcript was sent to NYU on 1/20 and today I went complete.

Transcript request here, too. My GPA stayed the same, so it is what it is.

Have tried looking through the thread and given up. My brain is exploding- I submitted on 1/7, got notice of receipt 1/12, and still no complete email or status checker- is this normal?

Better than a rejection. Not as good as an acceptance.Snoopy1216 wrote:Is a transcript request a good thing?

Yes. The status checker doesn't exist. Complete e-mails often don't either.roundabout wrote:Have tried looking through the thread and given up. My brain is exploding- I submitted on 1/7, got notice of receipt 1/12, and still no complete email or status checker- is this normal?

Re: NYU 2010
So i got the application received e-mail on the 12th.
I emailed NYU admissions today asking if I was complete. They responded by saying:
"Your application was complete, a mail was recently sent to your address."
Time to start freaking out? Are rejections mailed as well as acceptances?

Yes. There's no status checker, and NYU often misses people with their complete e-mails. Presumably, you went complete on 1/20 along the rest of the 1/12-received crowd.roundabout wrote:Have tried looking through the thread and given up. Re: NYU 2010
That probably means that they started sending out decisions to the 1/20 completes today! Ahhh! Last week, they sent out the first batch of mailings to the 1/12 completes, and no one reported anything but an acceptance, so you're probably in good shape. Gah; I wish I knew for certain that I was getting mail.CanadianEH wrote:So i got the application received e-mail on the 12th.

I also got "App Received" on the 12th but nothing since then. HIGHLY doubt that I'm getting in.

That hasn't meant much in the recent past; sometimes admitted people couldn't access it for a while even after getting letters. Although obviously getting in to the site means you're in.scribelaw wrote:Can you access the admitted students site?CanadianEH wrote:So i got the application received e-mail on the 12th.

I'm an international student, so I don't have a SIN number and couldn't find the alternative # they are requiring for log in. Any help here? It's asking for the LSDAS ID number, which apparently isn't the same as one's LSAC number
