Yeah, I got mine yesterday after applying December 8th. Finally. Hopefully I get a decision at some point.

Does NYU make any merit offers outside of the named scholarships?

I called to ask whether they will definitely wait until April to re-review our apps (I was thinking of the Cornell deferment to post-february, and the Penn waitlist where they say they won't start looking until mid-may).. I was told a letter could come any time between "tomorrow and april"...

Terrific...but still, thanks for doing that Drew, I think all the deferees appreciate it.

No problem.. I mean on the one hand I'm glad it could possibly come soon, although I have no way of knowing how likely that is.. on the other hand it is frustrating because there is no way of knowing when it is coming, it will just poof show up in the mail one day...

Wow, I've been out of town for a few weeks for work and I just found out NYU sent me a fee waiver through snail mail a week or two ago. I asked them for a waiver back in October and got refused, wish they had coughed up the waiver earlier in the cycle.

Does anyone know how much more likely it is that you'll get accepted if you're offered a fee waiver?

Makes no difference at all. I suppose if you asked for a merit-based fee waiver and were denied, it would guarantee that you would not get in, but all schools that give out fee waivers routinely give out waivers to candidates who are blatantly auto-rejects as well as competitive candidates and likely admits. One of the main purposes of merit-based fee waivers is to improve a school's selectivity by encouraging a lot of reach and extreme reach candidates to apply and get rejected.

I was already admitted to NYU and I was denied a fee waiver. I don't think it their decision on the fee waiver has any effect on whether or not they admit you.

Okay, NYU are just stingy, then. And obviously there are schools that don't do merit fee waivers at all.

Hey -- looking on LSN graphs from last year, it looks like people who get admitted to NYU often hear back within 3 weeks/a month from submitting their apps.

Has that been the experience this year, as well?

EDIT: One more question...Has anyone with multiple LSAT scores gotten in, cases in which they seemed to take the higher score rather than averaging?

Thanks!
