I spoke with NYU over the phone today and had to correspond via email. I wanted to find out if I was complete (submitted Sept 24th) and I needed to update my contact information. They were not as rude as I would have expected reading the board. I moved on Saturday and had my mail forwarded to my new address effective Saturday. Admissions did inform me that my decision was mailed Thursday. It still has not arrived at my new address, but it seems the first batches are acceptances, right?

I am freaking out waiting for this mail. I need some good news.

IN at NYU; same purple envelope via mail, received 12/7, I didn't get it til today because I was traveling. Cannot believe I broke the T5; srsly, for anyone considering a retake, if you know you can do better, DO IT (feel free to PM if you want study tips/advice etc.). Totally worth it, considering last year at this time I thought I'd be lucky to break the T15 :)

Althought that's in MH, so it's probably more appropriate for the Columbia thread.

In today!

Received: 11/3
No complete email
Postmarked: 12/4, West Coast

I was surprised, because my numbers are exactly at the medians. Non-URM.

Please - I'm starting to really get worried because it seems like most people with similar numbers (non-splitters) have already found out>

I'm not exactly worried since I think I'd probably pick Berkeley over NYU anyway, but people with my numbers have definitely been in this first batch. I think purple envelopes are still trickling in and I'm in California, so it's obviously possible one just hasn't gotten to me yet.

I called the admissions office today and said, "Hi, I'd like to check the status of my application" and the woman answered brusquely that I'd get an email when I was complete. I never said my name or LSAC number so they can't ID me, but my plot to find out if a decision had been mailed was foiled.

If there's no envelope in the mail tomorrow, I'll probably call again and push a little harder.

I don't think anyone really knows. I have a 11 / 17 complete date and got my letter, but I wouldn't start worrying quite yet. NYU has to be the biggest numbers whore of the T14.

For LSATs, yeah. But NYU doesn't YP at all and doesn't seem to care about issues with applications. If you have 75th numbers at NYU, you basically have a 100% chance of admission. At MVPB, some people get rejected (Berk) or YP'ed (MVP). At Columbia, they reject some really qualified people and also seem to YP quite a bit.

I don't think CLS YPs at all. They don't need to. They also don't need to take every by-the-numbers applicant that comes their way.

Not that it's relevant to me, but how do you know? Doesn't NYU have no status checker?

Exactly. People have just been getting letters from them. Well, that and trying to get the secretaries to give something away on the phone.
