Yep. I was able to log in about 4 days before I got my packet.

Has applying to one of the scholarships programs generally been found to slow down the application process? Or are there people who applied for scholarships and got accepted (sans scholarship) quickly?

I got the e-mail about applying for need or merit aid, but did not get the dean's scholarship e-mail. If I apply for merit aid through the application, is there any chance I will get any, or does not getting a dean's scholarship e-mail pretty much mean I am paying sticker unless I get a named scholarship?

I got accepted pretty quickly. I applied 1/1 and got in 1/29. Have not heard anything about the scholarships, but was told last week at the DC event that they have not contacted all of the finalists yet.

I remember reading that a fair amount of folks weren't able to log in until some time after they received their snail mail. If you can log in, that's great, but if not, I don't think it's a reason to lose hope.

+1, I wasn't able to log into the website until a couple weeks after I got my packet.

I know I posted this on the In at NYU thread but I wanted to get perspective from as many people as possible.

So tomorrow night is the reception for LA students. I really wanted to bring my mother and my SO; not that I need either of my parents there, but more so to show appreciation for the support they've given me. Does anyone thing it wood be odd to have my mother come with me?

Um, yes to the mother. I appreciate the sentiment, but there will be other opportunities to show appreciation once you're in school. Bringing a SO wouldn't be as strange since SOs might be moving with you to law school, but you'd really, really stand out (in a bad way) if your mom was there.

A J.D. is a professional degree, so treat this like a professional event. Would you bring your mother to a job interview, or a networking event, or even your company holiday party?

I think I am in. I was able to log into the admitted students' website, change my password, and surf around. My first acceptance! I can't wait to visit and see if NY is for me. If anyone has tips on finding a good neighborhood (I don't mind taking 30 mins of subway if I can get a decent 2 bedroom that takes small dogs... and my wife), feel free to PM.
