Re: NYU 2010
rejected today...letter dated 4/14, postmarked 4/127, received 4/30. beyond annoyed that it took them this long to send an outright rejection.

Re: NYU 2010
Sorry to hear about all the rejections...
Philly, yours makes no sense. I doubt that makes you feel better.
At least we can be glad we're not applying to med school, where the decisions really seem random (applicants accepted to tier 1 schools rejected by tier 3 schools, etc.).

if one is offered a spot off a waitlist, how much time does one normally have to decide and what kind of commitment does one have to make?
i'm sure it depends on the school. i'm guessing NYU would give us a day or so to respond to their offer. and i'm guessing they'd require either a "no thanks" or a "yes! i'm turning down all other offers and withdrawing from all other waitlists".
trying to work out a strategy for riding four waitlists... (in order of preference: CLS, NYU, Penn, GULC)
This is helpful, thanks. The 48 hrs is a little short, but doable. I was mainly worried about being required to withdraw from other waitlists. I hope you're right, clintonius, that this wouldn't happen.clintonius wrote:For time commitment I don't know, but I'm pretty sure you have to withdraw from all schools at which you've received a decision when you deposit at NYU (i.e., I would have to withdraw from Georgetown because they outright accepted me, but I would *not* have to withdraw from the Harvard waitlist).

Sorry, R6. Late in the cycle, things are up in the air. Don't take it as an indication of your application. At some point they realize that their class is close to full and they will ding more people than WL. Good luck with HYS!

They promised there still acceptances coming last month. I'm thinking they're liars.

Does anyone remember how he/she accepted their aid award? I remember going into FAAPS but I can't remember what I did exactly. Were there any stipulations (other than the intent to enroll)?

Re: NYU 2010
there was a "my award" tab...
you have to withdraw from schools you've been admitted to, IIRC.

WL'ed here and called admissions.....
learned that they are actually overenrolled so will probably not dip into the WL. unless a significant number do not submit the second deposit june 15.

Yeah, uh, I just got the letter they send after you deposit. No second deposit is mentioned.

I'm also curious as to how NYU would know that they are over-enrolled when final 'Intent to Enroll' forms aren't due until Aug 4th.

Re: NYU 2010
Maybe they're WAY over-enrolled.
Or, y'know, maybe they estimate based on the number of people who have deposited.

I figured. Even still, the proclamation seems a little premature to me.
