Does anyone know of a precedent for an ED applicant being rejected with numbers comparable to 172/3.62? I need more reasons to stress out, please.

And in seriousness, I did the opposite. NYU was the only school for which I altered my PS, taking it from 2 pages to 3 pages with the same theme infused with NYU-specific elements.

Interestingly enough, I didn't write this.
Someone def knows my TLS password. Or Helm is trolling from my username.
...Then I don't forgive you?
Did you write the original post about getting accepted?
Yeah, I did that. I am sorry though, it was a joke (in poor taste?).
I've seen a couple places people saying his account has been hacked, but I think they must have missed this whole exchange. The only the thing he didn't write was the "liar/raging douche/apologies" comment. The actual flame acceptance he admitted to. (The liar/raging douche/apologies comment was done by a mod)

I can't believe this may actually be starting now. I'm ED, but I'm on the west coast.

Why is the NYU thread so dead on this site? 13 pages compared to 30-90 pages for most of the schools I applied to. And NYU has a bigger class than all of them.
I have to think the first acceptance will liven this place up!

I'm really shocked they accepted me so early, especially since I'm RD.
Yes, that is somewhat shocking. If this was a "chances" thread, my prediction for those numbers would not have been favorable. The fact that you heard first is even more interesting! That's awesome for you, great job!
Is NYU your top choice?

she's URM with a decent GPA and a high LSAT score so her chances are plenty favorable
congrats citydweller!

Her chances are much more than "plenty favorable" now that she's in!
But URM/3.4/168 is DENY at LSP.

Sure, but LSP doesn't take into account an undergraduate degree from HYP in addition to a graduate degree, both of which facts separate her from the general pool. I'm not surprised at all.

Yeah, it seems the predictor is off for URMs, particularly in this case. This is clearly an instance where citydweller undoubtedly had a great application in terms of PS/LOR/softs and, combined with being underrespresented, was simply too good to pass up. They hooked her EARLY!

Yeah, I'm not sure if this is good or bad news for me.
Pro: NYU started sending out acceptances!! Maybe me?
Con: NYU started sending out acceptances!! Another school to fret over?

Calling myself surprised would be too strong. If anything, I was mainly echoing citydweller's "shock" at hearing back to fast.
Heck, if she's [pleasantly] surprised by this outcome, I take no shame in being surprised for her too!
