Rejected people will not be attending CLS. "Held" people have an uncertain future at this point. The main difference is that if you are held, you are not rejected.

What's the diff between "reserve" and "waitlist" for CLS? I read the letter they sent and it sounds exactly the same...

Reserve = WL at CLS.

"Hold" is different. If they tell you that you're in the "hold" category and will hear one way or another by April 21, you're "held." If you're on/in "reserve," you're WLed.

Thank you so much for actually bothering to do that. You deserve to get into Columbia just for that, seriously. This forum tests reading comprehension and logical reasoning in a way that the LSAT apparently does not.

Hehe I think it's rather just good evidence of natural human laziness. :mrgreen:

Anyone know why Columbia chooses to waitlist people this early in the cycle instead of holding them?

I don't see any WL, accepted from last year's cycle on LSN... Is the WL pretty much a ding unless you give them something compelling (e.g., a new LSAT score)?

What's the point of hold versus reserve if they're just going to get back to us later (april/may) anyway? They sound exactly the same so far!

I don't think they are necessarily going to be 'getting back' to those placed on reserve. I think for most that will be the final correspondence, whereas for hold you will definitely hear back again. You could conceivably stay on reserve until the start of the school year if you don't withdraw.

False. Holds will be reviewed starting in April (after their deposits are due) and hear back by the end of April, Reserve's will be reviewed starting in early May and hear back by the end of May. Reserves will either be offered admission (however unlikely), rejected, or asked if they want to continue being in the reserve group.

So I still have a semblance of a chance if I'm on hold? How many people actually get in on hold?

It's not clear. They have yet to make any decisions about anyone who was held, as they only started holding people in February. But some of the people held (Bai, most notably) seem like they should be guaranteed admission.

I'm confused by this ... what deposit is due before the seat deposit may 1? am I missing something?

Hamiltons & Butlers must be accepted at some point in April. Those are the admits that CLS is most likely to lose to HYS, so they will get a better sense of their class once that deadline passes.

After having read the plight of those who went complete long before me, I hesitate to do this, but...

Columbia: I've been complete since 1/11. Please show me some VCE love, and soon. Kthxbye.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
