Ok, so I'm a 4.61 (176, 3.94) on Columbia's index, I went complete in mid/late November, and I haven't heard anything. Oh, and I haven't killed anyone or committed any felonies or anything. Is there anyone else out there like this? Why the cruel silence, Columbia?!

Good luck to you.

If kweller submitted last week, there is probably no chance for a Hamilton. The last Hamiltons reported last year came in early/mid February; kweller will probably not go complete for another week, which means no decision by that point. (And the Hamiltons reported for February look like they might have been sent out in January; it is possible that all Hamiltons have already been given out in the 1/24, 1/26 and 1/27 acceptances.) A Butler is still possible, as those came out into late February.

This all assumes that the patterns are the same this year as last, of course. In any case, a 174/3.7 would not get a Hamilton anyway, and a Butler is also unlikely. There appears to be an LSAT cutoff around 176 and a GPA cutoff around 3.75.

Thanks for the info. Is the 176 cutoff for both scholarships? Or just the Hamilton? My GPA is a 3.79, btw.

Less clear for Butlers than Hamiltons. I'm sure they're flexible for particularly compelling applicants anyway.

Yes, and probably not, although a 4.2 reported getting in earlier on this thread. Are you a serious splitter or just both numbers below medians? Are you a URM?

FWIW I got in with 4.296 from a non-Ivy private. I submitted early though (late Sept).

That makes me feel a little better about my 4.3...

I was celebrating my birthday with my SO, had some great desert... got back to my house and saw the envelope sticking out of my small mailbox. It was such a rush seeing Columbia on the front, I had to wait until I got inside so I wouldn't wake up the neighborhood with my yelling.

Applied on December 22nd, acceptance pack was postmarked Jan. 26th. 176/3.87

Best birthday present ever!

Was there really any doubt, with those stats?

Yeah, I'm 4.6 (178, 3.75) and hearing crickets. Complete in November, also not a felon. I was recently held at Harvard though so although I'm bummed I'm not surprised. Is there anything about you that might raise eyebrows? I graduated from high school in 2001 and just finished undergrad last spring. There are reasons for that, but I don't know if top 5 schools care.

Currently in Austin, Texas

As for there being any doubt, I felt good about my odds. However, Columbia waitlisted a fair number of people in my range last year... and my softs were really weak so I couldn't be too sure about any of the schools I applied to.

Not really. I've got really different, diverse, and international softs...I thought they'd like that due to their international focus. Still just hoping that maybe the mail just got lost :?

That's the kindest description of the envelope color yet.

i'm a 4.46 from HYPS, and they couldn't be deciding on a scholarship for me, because my gpa definitely puts me out of any running.

I'm in the same boat. It can't be an elaborate tease...

I think it's not the best etiquette, but I did it for a few schools this week.

ok, so I won't be the only one. I figure if I don't get an acceptance in the next couple weeks I'm WL/dinged anyway, so it couldn't really hurt at that point. I'm kicking myself for not applying ED.

edit: Also, is WL at CLS a form of soft rejection, or do a significant number of people actually get in off of it?

I sent out a couple, too. If you don't receive a decision after 3 months, I think it's acceptable to submit a LOCI.

are law schools more reluctant to let in numerous ppl from the same undergrad even if they have qualified numbers?

I've heard, only anecdotally, that this can be detrimental for kids coming out of BYU, since many of them look fairly similar on paper. I seem to remember a few BYU undergrads with very good numbers getting WL or rejected at schools where they should have been fairly clear admits.

They're Mormons. All of them (except the girls) have gone on a two-year mission, all of them have done the same church-related volunteer work and extracurricular stuff, etc.

For some reason I laughed when I read the underlined.

BYU undergrad here, and I think there's merit to this theory. I may be biased though and just be trying to make myself feel better about the Harvard ding. From what I know about other applicants from BYU, if schools do have this practice I support it.
