Bad idea, no. Great placement, very good LRAP, tremendous alumni network. The loans are hefty, but that degree is so shinyyyy.

you don't need median or better at CLS to make 160k. that is just ridiculous false. Pretty much everyone above bottom 1/4 has that option open to them and even people in the bottom still often pull it off. even current class.

If Columbia is "risky" what school isn't? CLS will almost always (more stress on the always) land you a great job in NYC, if not anywhere else.

Gahhh, I want an ugly envelope soooo bad! However, this ice storm is going to make me have to wait even longer (assuming there is even one coming!)

Does CLS send complete emails? Also, are rejections snail mail or email? Just bracing myself for the inevitable ding.

I don't know how they send rejections, but yes, they send complete emails, and you can also make a profile and check via status checker.

I keep telling people not to worry because Columbia sends out their first "wave" dispersed over two to three weeks, but no one listens to me.

Once more: http://columbia.lawschoolnumbers.com/ap ... er=asc&p=7

Also, Bailiain (sp--always too many A's and I's for me to remember) hasn't heard back yet last time I checked, so I wouldn't stress about it.

When did the 1st wave start?

I'm starting to get nervous because people who submitted their apps after me have already heard back...makes me think I'm going to be dinged/waitlisted.

First wave started on the 23rd (Saturday) for people in NYC. If they do things like they did last year, they will start sending out a bunch of WLs / dings starting next week, but people will still be getting acceptances. "Holds" went out in late February.

this was my point.

Thank you everyone for your kind (and less completely pessimistic) words. I feel much better now.

I haven't been following this thread at all, but just to add my info to the pile, I just got my envelope. It's postmarked Jan. 22nd, but I haven't checked my mail in about a week so I don't actually know when it got here (NJ). I was complete 11/16, 177/3.63.

sorry to be a pain, but to whose are in: are the envelopes being sent to your permanent address or current address? my parents are out of town for a few weeks so i'm hoping it's not sitting at my house...

congrats to those in; good luck to those waiting!

It was sent to my permanent address, but probably only because my "current address valid until" date has already passed...hope that makes sense.

Do they send all decisions (accept/reject) by snail mail?

^ Yes, except for international students. No potshot at you, because I wouldn't want to read 100+ pages either, but I feel like we might break the record for most times one question has been asked in this thread.

Oh.. sorry.. didn't see it in the thread before (but then again, I don't follow each page religiously... perhaps that's healthy?)

Thanks anyway :)

No harm at all. And yes, it is more healthy that you don't follow it obsessively like me and maybe 10 other names I could name. Good luck with your decision.

I'm hoping my mailbox down here in the rural South will have good news in it later...

I believe this question was asked but not answered in the Columbia admitted students' thread...If people with early December completion dates have not heard back in the form of an acceptance by this point, is it safe to assume we will be WL/rejected?

No.
