Is anyone else's status checker also missing Recommendation Letters?0L Hoping for 1 wrote:I think everyones is like that.violaboy wrote:I just looked at my status checker (I'm RD, btw), and it now says that I don't have an LSAC report. Does that mean that they'll be asking for grades?
Is Columbia technically a lower ivy? I mean, where is that point, below HYP? Someone of incredible snobbiness, please fill me in.kittenmittons wrote:Can you still summer in Loc de Bourgeoise if you go to Columbia though?puppins wrote:LOL cue quote from you about how TTT they are and how they are falling out of the T14 or somethinghopefulundergrad wrote:Kind of wishing I would have applied to Columbia now...
Off the top of my head I would say its HYP - Rest. But I'm far from an authoritative source.puppins wrote:Is Columbia technically a lower ivy? I mean, where is that point, below HYP? I tend to think of Cornell as an ivy just as much as Columbia and Penn, but I feel like the fact that TLS treats them as TTT has clouded this view.puppins wrote:I feel like it iswackjickham wrote: Off the top of my head I would say its HYP - Rest. But I'm far from an authoritative source.
HYP
-
All the schools I recognize as ivies (Columbia, Penn)
-
Schools I know are ivies but don't think of them that way (Darmouth, Brown)
-
Cornell
I only think ofwackjickham wrote: I tend to think of Cornell as an ivy just as much as Columbia and Penn, but I feel like the fact that TLS treats them as TTT has clouded this view.

Awesome use of The Office. Highly credited.wackjickham wrote:Edit because I just posted the same picture that both of you did.... Some day we'll get together in Comstock hall and laugh about this.
Also:
Meredith: You know I once dated a couple guys from Cornell. They were really nice. They gave me a ride home.
Andy: I seriously doubt anyone from Cornell dated you.
Creed: It’s pronounced colonel and it’s the highest rank in the military.
Andy: It’s pronounced Cor-nell! It’s the highest rank in the Ivy League!

This guy at my work keeps saying apply to CLS. My brother-in-law went there and now he works for White & Case in DC blah blah blah. And I say well yeah, don't really like NYC, ED'ed to peer Chicago and he's like well I understand, I know CLS is really really hard to get into And while his opinion obviously doesn't matter, lay prestige is a nice thing to have.puppins wrote:LOL cue quote from you about how TTT they are and how they are falling out of the T14 or somethinghopefulundergrad wrote:Kind of wishing I would have applied to Columbia now...
I know what you mean. I was talking to a family member the other day and they were saying how they knew someone who went to Duke law and how smart they were. I was telling them about me going to UVA and they were just like "Oh so you're going to be a Hokie?" And then they were saying I should ask their friend for tips on how to succeed in law school, they were like "Yeah they went to Duke, so you know how tough that had to be, she should definitely be able to help you with the work at Virginia." It's amazing how low Chicago, NYU, UVA, Michigan and Penn's lay prestige are.hopefulundergrad wrote:This guy at my work keeps saying apply to CLS. your friends are proles. it is not your fault that they are ignorant. hth.violaboy wrote:Yeah... People at my ugrad don't really know prestigious schools. Kind of frustrating. When I told them that I got into Duke (the first school I got into), people were like, Oh! Good! Is that a good school? And with Penn, everyone thinks I'm going to Penn State. I'm like, NO, the Ivy...
