watch it again, but remember that Sauron = CLS Dean of Admissions. I think it really enriches the story.

Hopefully that means I'm Frodo and not Gollum in the story. I'd rather triumph in the end and sail away to paradise than burn to death in a volcano.

I'd settle for Samwise if Helm wants to be Frodo. Minus all the gayness. Actually, at this point, f*!& it. I'll do whatever it takes.

Clearly Sauron moved into this building, the statue makes it quite obvious:

if my app has already gone complete, does that mean it's pointless to send in any additional LORs? i recently had someone offer to write me a letter which I feel will be quite positive, but I didn't mention any plans to send in additional LORs on my app.

God moving to NYC would be such a shock to me..
Going to be moving into a place the size of my closet now... On the plus side, less to clean. I think I'll have to move up to NYC in the summer so I can get over the shock before fall semester.
I've been to NYC a few times, but never been in apartments or even in the subway system.

You'll adapt pretty quickly. I'm now on my second NYC apartment (first one - a ~200 sq ft 1 converted one bedroom) which I think is practically palatial, but then my kid brother came to visit a few weeks ago and laughed at me and told me about his apartment in Richmond, VA which is twice the size of this and like 1/4 of the price. But Morningside apartments are not as bad as that article suggests, especially if you go north or east. A good friend had a pretty nice apartment on 123rd street. Also there are relative deals in the 100s by Central Park.

Columbia does have pretty affordable housing, and you can get a lot of good deals around Morningside Heights. I'm more worried about housing at NYU.

So are we pretty much committed to the idea that if you didn't get an e-mailed acceptance ED your rejection is in the mail?

Well, or a deferral, which is just Columbia saying, "hey, we like you more than those schmucks we outright rejected, but it's not like we'll be accepting you regardless. LOL!"

That's what I was afraid of...got to love the soul crushing dread I'll have each time I call home now to see what news has come. I mean I always knew it was a reach, but it wasn't out of the question. Too many REALLY qualified EDer's this go around I guess.

I think the rejections/deferrals started popping up in the mail around this time last year.

Just throwing my hat into the ring. RD, went complete 9/29.

LSAT above median, no GPA (international Applicant) and hence no index. I guess I should expect a long wait till January for any life from Columbia regarding my application....

great. I guess my dream of returning to Morningside Heights is dead. I was really surprised to hear that a deferral from ED is pretty much the same as a rejection, as they never accept people after they defer them. Does anyone know if someone was deferred --> WL --> In?

There could still be some acceptances left, I wouldn't rule it out completely. I was just saying the deferrals usually start rolling out around this time.

I have researched CLS ED intensely. I have never heard of ED -> deferral -> WL -> in.
