This is why I don't know what to make of index. My index is about 0.04 higher than this (4.29) and yet I think this guy has a way better shot at admission than I do with my ~170, ~3.9 given Columbia's preference for high LSATs.LieutKaffee wrote:172/3.62, index 4.252

You could be right; it's hard to say. That's why the poster above suggested that the best way to get a picture of one's changes to to take all of the following factors into account: index, GPA and LSAT relative to medians, and school's preference.crackberry wrote:This is why I don't know what to make of index. Re: Columbia 2010
I'm definitely loving the fact that Columbia has started rendering some decisions. Sounds like there's hope for me to be notified in the month of December!
Edit: Then again, everyone who's heard so far was ED, right?

Everyone that's heard was ED.
Also, I've put my real numbers on LSN for reference.
My actual index was 4.353, but on the sheet that went to Columbia it was counted as a 4.4 (I guess they round up).

Where do you see the index number that went to the school? I'm looking, but not seeing anything on LSAC.rx3r wrote:Everyone that's heard was ED.

Re: Columbia 2010
Well, by that logic, my 4.252 should be rounded up to the plateau Helm seems to consider "safe," hah. Of course, I didn't apply ED.rx3r wrote:Everyone that's heard was ED.

Either way, the most likely outcome remains that I will withdraw my CLS application before the decision is rendered (cross your fingers for my NYU ED). I shouldn't have let you ED folks tease me like this .

I have multiple scores and I can't imagine I would have gotten in with either my first score or the average score.sm515 wrote:I am an ED applicant with a 4.341 index just counting my highest LSAT but just a 4.251 index if I average my LSAT scores. I know they say that they consider both scores but I was hoping they'd just take my highest. Does anyone that was admitted today have two scores, and if so, does it seem like they just took your highest score?

Is it just me, or does that index number only apply to your LSAT score?

If it only applied to your LSAT score Helm's would be higher.JollyGreenGiant wrote:Is it just me, or does that index number only apply to your LSAT score?

Am I looking at the right thing? Is it in bottom left hand box called "LSAT SCORE DATA"?rx3r wrote:If it only applied to your LSAT score Helm's would be higher.JollyGreenGiant wrote:Is it just me, or does that index number only apply to your LSAT score?
I have three indexes.. one upper, one lower, and one average. Cuz I re-took the LSAT.

Re: Columbia 2010
0.045 (LSAT) + 0.559 (GPA) - 5.512 = INDEX
ex. 0.045(172) + 0.559(3.62) - 5.512 = 4.25158
ex. 0.045(172) + 0.559(3.62) - 5.512 = 4.25158

I guess I was looking at the right thing. LSP tells me my index is 4.464 which, when rounded up, is 4.5 (which is what is stated on the Columbia report).

I think if I EDed I'd be in, but RD I'm guessing WL. It's a shame for me, too.. because I don't have a real #1 right now (which is why I didn't ED). Hopefully my heart doesn't get set on Columbia any time soon because I think the disappointment is coming.

In the same section it is all the way over to the right on the LSAT SCORE DATA box.emrose wrote:I have the same... Or you could type your numbers in law school predictor and it tells you your index.
