Remind me, which state school is better than Berkeley?

Now, of course, the California system is not as awesome as it once was--we can blame Prop 13 for that. But it's still the best in the country.

Michigan and UVA.

htfh.

Wrong. You are a serious anti-California troll huh?

Arguing on the internet is like racing in the special olympics.

And which state has a second-best public university equal to UCLA?

It's true about Prop 13, though; we have not only the best public universities but the most dysfunctional political system in the nation. Life would be better if they stayed apart.

These recent name changes are confusing me. I understand what it has to do with, but how does it help?

You're one step ahead of me, then.

And The Economist is one of my main news sources too; I highly recommend it to anyone who's interested.

i wasn't being serious in what you've quoted fwiw.

i had purely comedic goals in mind when i changed my name. now that my cycle is over, i'm not that worried about preserving my anonymity.

I love the new name... I just can't quote anything he says on this forum because my cycle is not over.

BTW, it's comical how this eclectic thread covers Ivies, California schools, state university systems, state political systems, name-changing habits of TLS-ers,...: basically anything and everything except the school for which the thread is named.

No, I just don't think Stanford and Berkeley are the end alls be alls. Every argument of yours has been a blanket one word statement with no support.

Wait so you actually believe that Michigan and UVA are better than Berkeley? And that California doesn't have the best public university system of any state in the U.S.? You actually believe that?

Also, your only argument for placing Stanford and Penn in the same category the other day was USNWR undergrad rankings. My counterargument discussed the irrelevancy of those rankings for undergrad, given some of the criteria used. I'd say your argument was way more simplistic and lacked more support than mine.

Yale? And yes I know you weren't being serious. I'm not a retard (no pun intended).

Just laugh it off, crackberry.

We're talking about the best public school system aside from Colorado, right?

But in effect, that would be comparing the entire public university systems of other states against a small fraction of California's public university system. Seems like a weird thing to do when we're comparing the systems as a whole, no?

No rain today, although we've had a lot more than normal this year, thanks to El Nino. It was high 60s and blindingly sunny today.

(I'm so moving back here after law school.)

Weren't there a bunch of El Nino-caused mudslides that killed some people north of LA this weekend?

Before TABOR, our public universities were damn solid. CU, CSU, Mines, and even UCD for certain programs. Fort Lewis educates more AI students than almost any other school in the US, regardless of size.

Damn Grover Norquist...I'm really glad my post-grad work experience was to dismantle TABOR.

Is TABOR a Tom Tancredo brainchild? Talk about an embarrassment to Colorado...

take the absolute numbers and divide by population to get the number of those awards per resident. then compare.
