I wish I could do the same, but my stupid brain won't let me just withdraw and enjoy Duke. I want Chicago too much.Chairman wrote:Waitlisted via email. Bah.
Looks like I'm gonna enjoy my scholarship to Duke.

For you folks who were WL'd or rejected -- does your status checker say UR 4/27, or does it note that a decision has been made? Sorry to all who heard bad news today.los blancos wrote:I'm willing to bet the UR 4/27s are gonna get in.
I'm so tempted to just withdraw from Chi/CLS. I really don't want to put myself through this. Fuck.

Does Chicago usually take a decent number from the waitlist or is waitlist at Chi a soft rejection?

It says 4/27 waitlisted. Hence why I think you guys are in good shape.clintonius wrote:For you folks who were WL'd or rejected -- does your status checker say UR 4/27, or does it note that a decision has been made? Re: U Chicago 2010
I just checked the submission dates on LSN for those who were WL'd or rejected today, and it looks like they still might not have gotten to the very last applicants yet. Is that the group who's UR 4/27? That might be a counter-point to the idea that those people are a batch of acceptances. But then there's bloodonthetracks, who applied late December and is UR 4/27...
EFF. I keep telling myself, "No more conjecture." I am bad at listening to me sometimes. Either way, thanks for the vote of confidence!

I applied Jan 14th and went UR 4/2 without any updates since. Maybe they just haven't gotten to me yet. Oh well, I'm happy to still be alive.clintonius wrote:I just checked the submission dates on LSN for those who were WL'd or rejected today, and it looks like they still might not have gotten to the very last applicants yet. Waitlisted, AFTER they made me write a damn scholarship letter.
<-- hates Chicago right now
Congrats to all those who have gotten in!
edit: in the WL email, they asked me to write ANOTHER essay telling them why I love Chicago.

Re: U Chicago 2010
their twitter says that decisions are coming by email today. does this mean there aren't going to be any acceptances -- or do they accept by email?

Aside: If I recall correctly, Chicago's app asks for degree institution cumulative GPA. Is it possible that they place additional weight on that beyond whatever effect it might have on the cumulative LSDAS GPA? Seems like an odd thing to ask otherwise.

But your status checker doesn't say Under Review 4/27, right?

Re: U Chicago 2010
Might explain why I wasn't straight up dinged (WL'ed with a 171 3.2/3.8 ). Although I had a good eight years of (unimpressive) WE between the bad grades and the more recent good grades. So far Chicago seems to be the only school that cares though, every other decision has been about what the 3.2 would have warranted.autarkh wrote:Aside: If I recall correctly, Chicago's app asks for degree institution cumulative GPA. Re: U Chicago 2010
So it seems according to LSN that most waitlist-> Accepted happen in early May to mid June... so why do people think re-taking the LSAT will be helpful for this cycle?
(I thought about retaking myself, but then it didn't seem to be worth it, so I'm just looking for opinions).

A little surprising. But not too much.

Wuhoo. Went In Review 4/26. Only a matter of time before I get my rejection letter.

Ding. Slightly surprised (thought I would be WL'd). My wife didn't want Chicago after our visit to NYU this weekend, so it works out well.

Re: U Chicago 2010
I'm going to spill my heart out to them again, but I don't know what I'm supposed to say. I already wrote a 'Why Chicago'. I'm probably going to go visit, perhaps on Friday, and use that opportunity to gather some new material to write on and perhaps try to make a positive impression. I would definitely go to Chicago if I got in.JollyGreenGiant wrote:And if you really want Chicago, I recommend doing it.hoopsguy6 wrote:Waitlisted, AFTER they made me write a damn scholarship letter.
