hmm, yeah it seems like this is actually still going on, interestingly enough. how many confirmed cases have we seen of sub-3.8 JR1s? just two, to my recollection - there was a 3.69/179 someone pointed out on LSN and msoftceo in this thread, who reported being a traditional splitter. it seems like the strong majority of the JR1s we have seen have had GPAs above median, but LSATs have spanned the full range from 25 to 75 and above

I'm not sub-25th for GPA, but I am right at 3.8 and got a call with a mid-170s LSAT.

Submitted over the weekend, but I don't really stand a chance. We'll see...maybe they'll just really really like me.

i think we should also note that given the intimidating stats of many people on TLS, people with lower stats who get the interview may be more hesitant to share, for fear of later embarrassment in the case they become part of the 300 WL'd/rejected post-interview. sure, this applies to people all around but probably moreso for the low gpa people (traditional splitters being less common than reverse splitters). so, there have probably been many more than 2, sadly.

but you shouldn't throw in the towel. don't lose hope!

Is there anyone lurking around here whose stats are above both 75ths? What is your status right now?

Just had my JR1! As everyone said, pretty straightforward. He asked what I've been up to, why law school, and why Harvard. I asked him a question about PI opportunities post-Harvard, and he had a great story about a grad who pursued some amazing opportunities.

All told, the call lasted 9 min. I felt nervous, but think it went well!

though possible, the impression KB gave me in her info session was that the interview process would NOT be changing significantly for this cycle.

I just had my interview and then read this entire thread. My interview was SO short! Probably because I spoke so quickly. Other than its length, I don't think I said anything too stupid or too brilliant--does that mean it probably won't have any effect on my chances either way?

At the last minute, I asked him a question about whether the budget cuts have had any substantial effects beyond free coffee. He said there haven't been any.

For the record, I have a low-ish GPA, around the 3.8 mark, and am at 75%ile for LSAT.

+1. I read this post and wondered if I had managed to unknowingly post under a different screen name since this exact same thing happened to me (minus the budget cut question). From what I've read, the interview doesn't seem to have much of an impact on the admissions decision...at least that's what I'm telling myself :?

a friend of mine told me that her friend got a phone acceptance from Harvard today. i know, too early wtf right? the girl who got accepted isn't my friend, though she wouldn't have reason to lie. don't know her stats, only that she went to an Ivy undergrad (not HYP).

hope some of you guys start hearing back soon...

LOL hard to believe, especially since that would be >2 months turn-around time, and for the past...so many cycles, was always around thanksgiving. this is a bit too early, they arent even done w/ first wave interviews yet! haha

and people have all sorts of reasons to lie, some are just pathological liars.

Are early JR1's any more like to get JR2's than later JR1's? Also, from what I can gather, the overall rate of JR1-->JR2 is about 75%, no?

We have established that in past years, yes about 75 percent of JR1 recipients receive a JR2. If Harvard has indeed changed its policy to try to get back to people within 2 months of applying, however, I don't think an early JR1 is any more likely to get a JR2 than a late JR1 is. I hope your theory holds though since I am an early JR1 recipient.

This is the debate that I've been having too. I think early/late might matter within your wave--like whether you get early or late based upon the week/time you apply--but it's all really impossible to determine.

Very frustrating.

Also, my JR1 is in 8 hrs...why can't I sleep?

Just moved to under review. Make this quick and painless, although I don't really feel I am going to get my $85 worth of status-checking fun.

That's hyperbole if I've ever seen it.
