Eh, I wasn't intentionally misleading, though. I did say in my OP something to the effect of, "If I get into Yale..." People who didn't read the OP (or didn't read it carefully) just assumed I'd gotten in. Not really my fault.
This is a serious problem that TLS has, and what makes it one of the most frustrating forums I've ever used. People are too selfish and lazy to skim through even a few pages of the threads they want to post in, resulting in a constant stream of posts of people asking questions that could easily be answered by looking through the last few pages of a thread, which is really obnoxious. And everybody, myself included, is so worried about adcomms reading their posts that they don't say anything mean, even though mean responses are pretty warranted in these situations. You'd think if people are neurotic enough to be looking for this kind of information on the web that they would be less lazy and selfish about finding the answers on this board (and I don't even get why looking through previous posts is harder than posting a new question). At least this board isn't LSD though.
for the most part i agree, but i mean w/ a thread like this one...i only expect ppl to read the most recent 2 pages (and maybe the first page) lol

the longest thread on TLS that i read from beginning to end (most recent) was 32 pages, and i still feel like a loser doing it

I'm going to say something mean. Because of my OCD-ness and Newcastle United fanhood, the second capitalized 'c' in your username annoys the hell out of me. hth

Haha sorry. My LSN profile explains why that part's capitalized.
hahaha gotcha. i never knew the spellings differed. requisite NUFC trolling follows:

So, who is going to ASW this weekend? I am, and I'm pumped to go.

Unadmitted students weekend. Since most of the people posting in this thread haven't been accepted yet. You should probably have asked your question in the "In at Harvard" thread

JR1 yesterday. It lasted eleven minutes and I vaguely remember (god, how I hope I'm not mistaken) him saying that I'd be hearing from him soon. Good sign?

Does anyone know if those who receive interviews after they've been on hold have a worse or better chance of receiving a JR2?

I'd say if you were held and didn't materially change your app (new LSAT score, etc.) and got a JR1, you are almost guaranteed admission.

I think he's right; if they give you a JR1 after being held, they've decided to admit you and will only change their mind if the JR1 is truly awful. Crackberry's talking about people who were Held -> JR1 -> possible JR2, not people who were JR1 -> Held -> possible JR2.

yeah you are probably in next week man, congrats

i was hoping for some JR1 movements this week, i am starting to think the question is not "when will JR send the e-mails", but "is he done sending out e-mails"

Wasnt there a lot of movement last year in March into April? I wouldn't give up hope yet... at least I cannot

Yeah why is that so unbelievable? Why on earth would JR offer an interview to someone who was originally held (without an initial JR1) without planning to admit him? What would be the point of that?

I have no idea what will happen to people like me (JR1-->holds).

i agree that all JR1 from this point on are likely presumptive admits. you can still bomb the phone interview and get a ding, but if you did ok/well on the interview you should get in. there is no later applicant pool to compare with or anything like that.

i really, really hope so. all i can say is i feel REALLY shaky about my JR1 performance. i have never stuttered so much in my entire life. hopefully this doesn't constitute "truly awful."

For those of us NOT in yet to HLS, what do we do about financial aid? Am I missing something?

The only things you can do before being admitted are FAFSA, Need Access, and collecting your parents W2's and tax papers if you are under 30.

You can't do anything else until after you are admitted because you need a login to do it. Harvard makes you fill out a form online and then it generates a personalized list of required documents.

Thanks. I'm trying to get this done, but is there some HLS deadline for those anyway? In other words - is this a case of "worry once you get in"?

i'm in the same boat as you dude -- had my JR1 after being held and i definitely feel like I bombed it. everything I said either sounded canned as hell or just plain rambly.

you know how after a big job interview or presentation you kinda fantasize about that perfect answer you should have given or about taking back something you shouldn't have said? yeah, it was like that for the next day or so, which is kinda sad considering i knew what all the questions were going to be.
