Sounds like a good plan. I think that I'm going to use my looks to intimidate them. People don't like to make ogres angry.

ok perhaps a silly question, but i just want to make sure. for the 850 acceptances from 1100 calls figure, the numbers do include all of the calls and acceptances off of the waitlist in the summer, right?

p.s. i like the new managamy much better.

Quick question. Has anybody gotten a "JR1" this week?

Assuming you mean emails, none reported yet. Two people on here got JR1 emails last week and had JR1s this week, though.

I think something may have happened to the real managamy and, to cover their tracks, the offender has been posting on TLS to keep suspicion off his/her trail. :P.

Is there a typical time frame between going UR and getting a JR1?

I went UR 1/20, complete 1/28, and still no word on JR1.

Just thought I'd pitch in and say I haven't heard anything either, UR 1/25 and no complete email yet and no JR email. Not expecting the latter.

Same here. The thing that keeps my spirits up is the complete lack of JR1 emails recently. Two were reported last week on 1/28, too soon after we went UR, but none before that back to 1/22 and none since.

I'll be much more pessimistic if I don't get a JR1 email tomorrow or Friday (or later today, I suppose).

Yea I've only heard of 2 JR1's last week as well, and as I've said dozens of times here, there are plenty of "very qualified" candidates here who have gone at least 7-10 days without a JR1.

As for me, UR 1/22... nothing since.

I'm also 1/25 UR with no JR1 email. It makes me feel better to know that no one has gotten an email this week, but I'm definitely not getting my hopes up.

I'm UR 11/20, complete 12/1, just waiting for the rejection email.

decently, it seemed. not perfect -- not close -- but no disaster either. hard to gauge, honestly. ultimately, i think i conveyed why law school is the "right next step" and why harvard is the right place for me and asked him a couple of good (in my estimation) questions. maybe we connected? lol. he talked more than i expected he would, telling me about thus-and-such program changes, which ended up pushing the interview to well over 10 minutes -- close to 15, even.

needless to say, i'll be staring at my phone all day on monday. pray for me.

that sounds great to me. mine was really short, probably just over 5 minutes. He didnt rush me but I could tell he didnt want long answers so I kept my answers short. He did more talking than I expected too and got really excited about the public interest stuff. I'm hoping he was in a hurry because it was an international call and not because he hated me. :? good luck!!!

thanks Z! j.r. did the same w/ me about p.i. stuff. mine was also longer b/c he asked his first question slightly differently from how i was expecting, which threw me for a little loop and kept me from giving as concise a response as i would have liked :| -- definitely the low point of the thing for me. the rest was much better, thankfully.

i'm sure he was duly impressed w/ your interview. i'll be thinking of you on monday..

Burger in a can wrote:Hello Harvard Folks!

I've never posted in this thread because I'm not Harvard material, but I thought I would pass along this little story. I work as a gas station attendant (pump jockey... thank you, economy, for all of your sweet blessings...) and this evening I was filling up a car with a Harvard Law School sticker on it. I asked the older gentleman driver if he had gone to HLS, and he told me that his daughter just graduated a couple of years ago. I meekly muttered about my aspirations to attend UConn and he said, "Hey, law school is law school, man. My daughter went to Harvard, but she's got plenty of student loans to pay off now, just like anyone else." I smiled and was about to talk about how maybe I was wise for pursuing a less expensive state school, when he interrupted me, "But she has a REALLY great fuckin' job! That's for sure! Nope, she doesn't have to worry about employment! She went to HARVARD!!!" He exploded into a deep Santa-esque laugh and accelerated into the night. I wasn't sure whether to wave and smile or killself, but I thought you guys might get a kick out of it. Anyway... good luck, smart people!

Parents can be real douches about their children. I bet his daughter would have been mortified if she'd been there. At least, I hope she would have been!

At least you know there won't be any pretension at UConn. Although thankfully HLS is at least somewhat better than Harvard College in that regard. (Thankfully if I get in, anyway!)
