Just got held. I like that much more than a rejection! Anyone know the statistics on holds?

Ya ok cool. I was worried the "forwarded to faculty committee for further review" was condemnation given everyone saying you usually get JR2 the monday after JR1

That is just so strange! I've been reading your posts for awhile - I know you said you're wondering if your file somehow fell through the cracks and I'm almost inclined to agree, it has been so, so long!

In a few weeks it will have been about three months since you've heard anything, right? I'd be tempted to call and check at the beginning of February. Three months is a long time, and while I've heard it's inadvisable to call, I think that's an appropriate length of time after which anyone deserves to know what's up. (Especially when he said weeks, not months!)

Good luck, pulling for you!

Submitted 10/17, under review since 10/23, and had a JR1 just before Thanksgiving. This is a bad sign, but this may be related to my <25% LSAT + URM status (URMs with lower-than-median numbers usually have slow cycles, I'm told).
A little surprised but I still think you will be accepted no later than the end of Feb.
I think most of us will be stunned if there is any other outcome. Good luck, Core!
Thanks. Sending in an updated transcript, 2 LORS, and a LOCI, so I hope so.

Just call them tomorrow and ask. They won't hold it against you. You're more than justified in calling at this point.

sent late november, under review 12/10...
and nothing since. no jr1. no hold.

no jr1 = low chance of acceptance? or do jr1/jr2 comprise only a portion of applicants that are eventually accepted?
sorry for the potentially idiotic questions! thanks!

Haha I think I'll wait for the next round of JR2s to go out (presumably this coming Monday) before I call. By that time, we'll be in mid-late January. If the next round of JR2s comes and goes with no word for me, I'll probably call.

You can't make this stuff up, folks.

It makes sense that you don't have a hold. Harvard is releasing holds/rejections in chronological order. So far, they've only gotten to the applicants who submitted in late October.

no jr1 = low chance of acceptance?
No jr1 = no chance of acceptance. It's still possible, however, that you'll get a JR1 within the next week or two. And, even if you don't get one, you could still get a hold, which would mean that there is a chance--probably not a good chance, but a chance--that your application could be reconsidered later in the cycle.

Oh true. Well, whenever the next round of JR2s comes (whether that's Tuesday or the following Monday or whenever), that'll be my day of reckoning.

It is, but according to LSN, a round of JR2s did in fact go out on MLK day. So it's possible.

Have you heard of any recent JR1 offers to applicants who've been waiting around? I have only been hearing of Hold/Rejection.

Last week, an applicant who applied in early November got a JR1. As I think I mentioned yesterday, every batch of JR1s seems to include one or two applicants who have been waiting for 6 to 8 weeks. These fortunate few, though, are definitely the exceptions to the rule. The overwhelming majority of JR1 offers go to applicants who have been under review for no more than a week or two.

Sorry if this has already been covered . . . too lazy to dig through the thread . . . anyone have any sense of what kind of odds you're looking at to have been held but no JR1, submitted in October

If it was early-mid October, you probably would have already been held. If it was late October, your hold might be coming.

With a ~165 LSAT the chances are probably slim to none. Sorry, just too far off the 25th/ and a non-URM for HLS.

Do applicants ever get wait-listed without a JR1? If so do they have a phone interview later if spots open up and they get reconsidered?

question about under review/complete. i'm sure this has already been asked, but please humor me. for those of you that got JR1s, did they come before you went complete while you were still under review? if i have already received a complete email, does this mean a JR1 is not coming?
