Ain't that the truth. I haven't had to ask myself seriously "am I good enough for ..." for 15 years.

Can I just say that it also doesn't help when you have to deal with the distorted realities of the uninitiated? I was asked by a classmate the other day if I had "gotten into Harvard yet" (ha!), as if I can just snap my fingers and make it happen. When I explained that I don't really have the LSAT score to consider myself an auto-admit he was like, "Oh, were you sick that day or something? Anyway, I'm sure you'll get in any day now."

Um, no.
It's also lame when the initiated from all corners assure you you'll get into Harvard. I just sent Harvard another email saying that I would still take them over anything else. Also if it helps people, I sort of know skadefryden on LSN, with the 180 and 3.75, and I believe he told me he was waitlisted too.

They went through LSN really quickly. Very few appear to be left pending. More WL tomorrow?

Sorry to everyone WLed today.

lol, yeah, we're cool like that. 8) She's already at HLS. So sad that it's becoming increasingly apparent that I won't be joining her there. Oh well, had to try.

Congrats on your cycle, btw! I take it you're dead set on HLS?
I was hoping to apply this year, but I didn't get my target score till my Feb retake. I'll be shooting for Class of 2014.
Oops, I think I confused you with another regular poster (I think she goes by booby?). Anyway, good luck for next year!

Call me crazy, but here is my optimistic theory.

1) It seems from this thread and from LSN that quite a few JR1-->Holds haven't heard a decision yet.

2) It also seems like the Hold process prevented a lot of JR1s from receiving quick acceptances.

3) Therefore, considering a new dean and new hold process, is it possible they are looking over the borderline JR1 applicants and will individually be accepting, rejecting, and waitlisting them over the next week or so?

Or am I crazy?

HLS on LSN for past 5 years. Just to give a sense of how this year looks right now in comparison:
Cycle Acc Rejct WList Pnd Total
09/10 140 220 101 245 750
08/09 160 245 185 185 785
07/08 150 290 103 180 830
06/07 160 255 134 105 775
05/06 160 325 98 185 800

yes, these numbers do not add up prfectly to the total applicants. there are always a bunch of profiles every year left at "intend to apply" and, well, my counting was sloppy.

Remember, this is the first year of a new dean. Therefore, the past is not indicative of this cycle, per se. In my mind, he just wants to make the last handful of admits sweat it out. But, that is probably hopelessly optimistic.

my guess: there are more waitlists to come. more rejections. and a few more acceptances. (all three are lower than they should be right now). furthermore, there are too many pending profiles and I don't think all of these are actually pending. so there will also be a whole bunch more updated profiles as people post their rejections/waitlists.
a previous poster mentioned that he had a harvard administrator lobby for him with JR and JR said that while he liked some things about the applicant he would have trouble getting him through the committee due to his sub 25th gpa/lsat. This suggests that for borderline applicants there is an extensive committee review involving lobbying, institutional politics, and debating. Its quite possible that there are a few more files being considered by this committee (its telling that said applicant is still pending).

I am here to join my buddies for another day. It looks like on LSN that they already cleared out most people complete before 2/15. So the wait should be ending. If they are really looking over the rest of the app carefully, at least I know I am not an auto reject...

So weird, I applied the first day the app was available... held in January, nothing so far. I'd like to think I'm not an auto-reject, but seriously H, anything at this point will do...

+1 Except I applied in November, and I might just be a delayed auto-reject lol. Good luck to both of us (mostly you though).

I was starting to doubt that anyone's taking my GPA seriously, but I did apply ubber late. If not for Michigan I think I would feel much worse about the whole thing. Still, the thought of me attending Harvard (and Yale)? Day dreaming is more accurate lol I will have to believe it when it happens.

They made you wait because you used a fee waiver! So I should expect to wait until June

I included an extra $20 in my application, shouldn't that expedite the process for me?

so call me crazy, but when I look at LSN, there's an inexplicable sort of line of yellow right at around the 3.8 gpa mark, starting at 177 lsat through 180 lsat. I fall into that group, i know some others on here are right there (coaltonewcastle at 3.79 179), and given the slope of the green/yellow barrier for lower LSATs, my guess is that JR decided to try really hard to keep the 25th %ile GPA at or above 3.8 this year--not least because both YS have been successful in doing so. So i think that for those of us around there who recently got waitlisted, I'll bet that they'll keep us on the hook until they have a better sense of where their 25th is going to fall out, and then admit selectively from there.

but maybe i'm just nuts.

They think you half-assed your bribe attempt. You should have included at least the amount of the app fee.

It's not too late if you are still pending. But since you flubbed your last attempt, you will have to do much better to overcome your reputation. I don't know how much it will take at this point :? I would suggest you start by adding 0's to the end of that figure  if you add enough you will get a honorary degree at the very least.

Yeah I'm in that zone with you guys. Bummer. Definitely a lot more green there in the 2009 graph.
