PT, UR 1/13, status just changed to "Decision made; you will be notified soon."

As if I wasn't nervous enough

I had a dream last night that Duke updated my status checker from its UR 10/12 date to UR for the current date.

It's sad that even in my dreams my only aspiration is movement in any form.

(BTW congrats to the new PT admits.)

Congrats! Do they email you the acceptance? or does it just say that on your status checker? (I can't believe they're working on Saturday?)

Congrats all. I figured they wouldn't reject people on a Saturday. Maybe I will see you next year! Duke wasn't really on my list before I applied, but I see an awful lot to like about it.

Status checker just says that a decision has been made. They e-mailed me soon after. I think (not sure) that some people have gotten phone calls before, though.

Thanks boilercat. I went UR around the 14th of Jan, so I'm not expecting any movement any time soon. Enjoy your day though! :)

Yeah, I never really thought much about Duke before I started applying, and it has rocketed to the top of my list. As I look at my cycle now, I think there's a very high probability that's where I'll end up, simply because:
-I highly doubt I'm going to get HSBCCN. Maybe a WL or two but I'm not banking on it.
-M and P are very similar to Duke in terms of my preferences. I think I'm the prototypical Penn WL and no one really has any idea what is going on at Mich. Mich is close to home and places very well on the West Coast, which might bias me toward it a bit, but it seems that Duke isn't bad at all at placing nationally either and has a smaller class size which I think is important ITE.
-I'm fairly confident I prefer Duke to UVa, Northwestern, and Cornell. I shot apps to UT-Austin, UCLA, and USC, but I could only see myself favoring any of those schools if I got a massive amount of scholly $

Part of the excitement here is that I now know my PS, DS, and addendum weren't dreadfully bad, and neither of my recommenders bashed me.

Now to try and set up a visit soon, I want to see what Raleigh/Durham is like in the Winter.

Thanks. My numbers are similar to your listed ones... I'm not too hopeful, but we will see.

Assuming your PS and LORs aren't straight-up horrible (I think mine were mediocre) and you wrote a Why Duke, I like your chances. It seems that Duke only PRs PT applicants as yield protection. They already like your numbers, you just have to hope you proved a genuine interest in the school.

No Why Duke, which is why I am concerned. I did have a paragraph in my PS which spoke to why Duke, but I am thinking now I should have removed it and wrote a separate essay.

Ah, I see. Well, the silver lining is that if you do get PRed, you have a lot of material to work with as far as writing a convincing LOCI. Again, best of luck. Hopefully Duke adcomms are browsing this thread and see your interest in the school.

This PT crap is getting old. I did a bunch of work to make sure my all my apps were in early and I've been UR at Duke since 11/9. I've inquired about when to expect a decision and I was told they are up 25% in applications. People who submitted apps a week ago are hearing back and most of the early apps are still waiting around.

I don't even get the point of priority track. No one is going to attend Duke based on the fact that they accepted them w/in 10 days and most schools take 8 weeks.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
