Great idea for a thread. I'm curious to see how others score. I don't have words, this is from this website: http://www.read-able.com/check.php
Nice to have the % of complex words too.

I am skeptical of this, Finnigan's wake received a 60.0 and 8.0

I was write the third coming of El Quijote. It just happened that mine was infinitely more rich than its predecessors. It is shame I only made to the third page.

 My first search after I first learned about F/K readability was Finnegan's Wake. Ultimately, it's a bad comparison. Because it is literary English (or should I say English-like) and not standard prose, it's not what the formula was designed to measure.

Did you use 6 point font and 0.25" margins? My 4 pager for Boalt was only 1270 words and it was 3 3/4 pages (12 point/1 inch)

Edit: Why did I not think of this when I was writing my PS: 11"x17" paper!! Hey ADCOM, all you said was it had to be 2 pages

I agree, but remain quite suspicious of attempts to understand the written word through statistics.

While some do take pride in the "difficulty" of their written material use this site as a reference
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flesch-Kin ... ility_Test

For example your essay is not very "readable" according to your statistics. I'm not saying you should dumb it down, just make sure you farm it out to a lot of people so you know if people are getting lost or turned off by the complexity. Readying ease of 0-30 means this is something that can only be easily followed by university graduates. Keep in mind that just because you can write at that level doesn't always mean you should. Most adcoms are university grads, but a grade level of 17.9 is beyond university. If your PS goes over someone's head it will lose effectiveness.

All that being said, I haven't read your essay. Just commenting on the stats.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
