Hi... 167 LSAT, 3.46 at an ivy, 12+ years of work experience...

"Full ride" doesn't include room and board, and since I have a family it's a bit more complicated. However... it's an extremely compelling turn of events.

Was the acceptance only by phone call???? Or are they sending out mail/email? God I hope I hear from them soon.

Hi there-
Dean Ortiz called me, and said I'd be getting lots more information by mail (and a call from the Chem himself at some point).

I didn't ask about the particulars-- I was trying to not swerve into oncoming traffic-- but when I said I'd be visiting with my family soon she did make a point of mentioning that the school had made arrangements for "exceptional" family housing at "below market" rental rates.

And, sorry to ask, but: Anybody know how many applications they received? How many they're admitting to reach their target 60?

Wow...I'm really jealous of you right now! I would drop dead if I got the call today, which is why I have my phone on high blast right now at work...if I get a call from 714 or 949 area code offering me a spot, I will streak at work!

Haha... Actually, what happened was I heard my cell ring in my pocket but didn't get to it in time. I saw it was a 949 number and my antennae went up. After I didn't see a voicemail indicator, I just said "screw it" and hit the redial...

"Hi, this is Clayboy. Did I just miss your call?"

I'll be curious to see what their yield numbers are. Certainly Irvine's going to start out by making offers to the cream of the crop applicants. I'm sure that lesser candidates won't see offers until much later in the cycle as the Irvine class starts taking shape. As an outside onlooker, it's very interesting to watch though.

I think I can say with confidence though that I wouldn't take a chance on a school like Irvine if I had the types of numbers applicants receiving offers today hold. I would much rather go to a far more established school instead. The person with a 169 / 4.09 for instance could get a huge scholarship at a school in the 20-40 range w/ far less risk than what Irvine presents.

Definitely will be interested to see what caliber of applicants take the free tuition bait.

"Nontraditional" how? Is that what I should be calling myself instead of "returning" or "old and decrepit?"

According to these boards, I'm "an older applicant...." meaning I'm more than a couple years out of undergrad. But decrepit works too.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
