Top Law Schools

Anyone who is in already actually thinking about going?

I'm deciding between Lewis and Clark and University of Oregon. The main issue is cost. I know I want to live in Portland for the rest of my life, so it might be worth it to go to LC. I am not currently an Oregon resident though.

I will be sending in my deposit soon I love Eugene

I'm a little bit worried about the culture still. I don't know how well I'd fit in since I don't drink or smoke the doobie.

For you, I'd suggest Lewis and Clark. Not only will you have the opportunity to network in Portland for three years, but L&C is the most respected law school in Oregon and offers you the best chance at working in the Portland metro area after graduation. In the end, I think it'll be worth the extra debt. Exception to this is if you're hoping for PI, as Oregon has a better LRAP IIRC.

Although I'm not in yet, "if" I get admitted, I'm about 95% sure I'll be attending. I would really like to live in the PNW, and my alternative is SU. The price difference puts UO on top for me.

pick up the book by Donald Miller called Blue Like Jazz he describes, anecdotally, his life in the PNW and his interaction with the culture despite having a pretty different point of view than most people at the school he lived near.

I would recommend visiting. I wouldn't worry too much about "fitting in." There are going to be people on all ends of the spectrum and while Eugene is known for its "hippie" culture, Oregon is not much worse than other schools in the PNW with regards to drinking and smoking. I do not know much about USU, but I assume people drink/smoke/party and I also assume you have a social life and fit in with your peers just fine. Could be wrong, but don't let those influence you too much.

I love this book ^ it actually convinced me to go see portland and i fell in love with oregon

oh sorry, didn't catch it either, still a good read IMO. Maybe you should employ my new strategy for sarcasm, any time you are starting a sarcastic statement begin with a ~ and then end with one too like "special" quotation marks~

Is UO Law's fafsa code the same as its undergrad? The only one I could find is 003223, so I assume they are the same?

I just applied on Feb 2, any idea if I have a chance at a scholarship? 164/3.66, former public school teacher, current paralegal, awesome LORs

Yeah, I just applied on the 2nd too and was hoping for some scholarship money for a 166/3.4. I hope that they, unlike L&C, haven't given out all their money quite yet. :/

You guys should check out lawschoolnumbers.com. Oregon will probably give you guys scholarships, but nothing very significant. They are not known for handing out large scholarships. Good luck though!

I'm all over lawschoolnumbers (http://lawschoolnumbers.com/rogueybear). I think the worry comes from applying so late in the cycle. I had to wait for my new LSAT score and for a paycheck that wasn't eaten up by my divorce attorney. Applying to law school is expensive!

You should have some luck at Vegas. I got full tuition and my numbers are only 163/3.5

Congratulations!!! I am sooooooo hoping for Vegas. I think I might have narrowed my top choices to Vegas, LSU, Tulane, Oregon, Miami, San Diego, Seattle, L&C, and New Mexico. Then again, every time I say that, I find out something about another university that makes me add them to the list. I wish there was a way to tell adcoms that I'm just super excitable and I will be totally thrilled where ever I go.

heads up on vegas, I've read some rumors that unlv is declaring bankruptcy and having to restructure everything. I plan to ask the school about it soon.

Any ideas when the next wave of notifications may go out?

I'm an in-state applicant whose already got acceptance letters from Willamette and Lewis & Clark but still waiting on U of O

I thought L & C was more selective so I was surprised I got in before I heard anything from the U of O. I hope this isn't a bad sign.

This was in the email sent to me on Nov. 11th. I applied in late October.

Did those who already get accepted apply earlier then I did or for early-decision? I find it strange that I would be notified in late February and be told they start to review in mid-Feb when they've already handed out decisions.
