Looks like those of us who now have "Decision" have very close numbers. Sadly, I don't think we'll be getting good news. Not that I think anyone has bad numbers, but I think mine are too low for UWash. And your's are all similar to mine.

Group hug?

file complete 1/27, just changed to decision 2/10. Really want to go here.

Any predictions whether this is a acceptance or denial? 3.96/164, out of state. Letters come only by snail-mail? (should i call?) Very anxious for my first decision letter to come in.

I'd say that's most likely a nod for you. Good luck!

b1887 wrote:I called the financial aid office this morning and the following is what I found out about the financial aid statement:

It is, apparently, not another personal statement, per se. What the financial aid officer told me was that the primary purpose of the statement is to provide us with a chance to narrate our financial backgrounds (i.e., a chance to place a voice to the numbers retrieved from the FAFSA form). In addition, I was told that providing our general background (where we grew up, nationality, where we graduated from, etc.) as well as outlining our interests (legal and otherwise) would be appropriate for the statement. I am guessing that, for some of us, the personal statement and the financial aid statement will overlap in some parts.

The financial aid officer was very helpful throughout the phone call. I highly recommend all of you to call the office (the number is listed on the front page of the green letter, which is different from that of the admissions office) for further clarifications. Good luck with your statements.

Thanks for sharing that info! The statement I drafted last night fits that description pretty well, I think I'll be making a few changes and emailing it off tonight.

I really like this separate scholarship application process; it at least makes me feel like more than just my LSAT and GPA will go into scholarship decisions.

I thought some data might be useful to calm everyone's frazzled nerves :)

160 profiles on LSN -- each profile represents approximately 15 applicants. Theoretically, if UW accepts about 600 students there should be 40 LSN acceptances. Currently there are 18 with another 7 pending decisions.

Of those who have been accepted, the both the average and median LSAT/GPA are: 166/3.6

Of those with decision dates but unknown outcomes, average LSAT is 167, median LSAT is 166, average GPA is 3.43, and median GPA is 3.49

Of the 135 listed as "pending" with no decision date, average and median LSAT is 163. Average of known GPA's is 3.56; median is 3.59.

...so, uh, yeah. make of it what you will. personally, i conclude that speculation is a waste of time (unlike this very productive exercise, obv).

Decision Letter Sent (02/06/09)

As for you negative nancies bagging on your chances...deep breaths, positive thinking, and (hopefully) thick envelopes!

High GPA/low LSAT splitters shouldn't give up. I'm a 161/3.75 from out of state with good but not ridiculous softs, and I was accepted January 29th.
