Mine just changed to decision processed 1/22...I got downright giddy until I remembered everyone else who had the decision processed over a week ago

I assume that if L&C sent out their mailings on Friday, those of you in Oregon or at least Portland should get them today.

All I know is that icarter was told they should be mailing them by this Friday.

Ryanocerous, I saw that you got into Willamette with some good money. Congrats on that. They invited me to an event here in Salt Lake City, so I am hoping that my acceptance is on the way.

Thanks! well if they actually did mail them yesterday people should probably start getting them today if they live in Oregon... Unfortunately I haven't heard anything.... Hopefully that changes however

I apologize if I have misunderstood the question. Are you asking why we applied, or is this question for a specific board member?

I chose to apply to L&C for these reasons:

-Location (Portland and Oregon seem awesome) I like a place with some scenery, but also to be close to a place where a lot is going on. I also like being somewhat near the ocean since I've mostly lived in the mountain west and have not experienced it much. I am a vegan (as are my wife and children), Portland is close to the best place for someone looking for a friendly atmosphere to vegans. Also, it is in the west I prefer that.

-Environmental Law reputation More importantly, I really want the opportunity to learn animal law. L&C is by far one of the best schools for animal law. Also, the ability to concentrate in tax law is a draw, but it is not why I applied.

-Focus on public interest While I do not consider myself liberal (more conservative) I am still very interested in making a difference. I want to go to a school where people do not see money as the only reason to be there (even if it may be important)

-School size I prefer smaller schools.

I could mention some negatives also, but since you asked for positives there they are for me.

I could see risky placement vs. other PNW schools (UWash, Seattle, Californian schools) and probably low options if you don't do Env. Law. Programs might be decent, but not great.

Here are the negatives for me:

I would echo the sentiment about job prospects. For those who can get into schools with better job prospects L&C might be risky. I have heard that Portland can be a tough market.

The focus on enviro. law could be a bad thing, as some of the other areas might be neglected (I don't know about this)

L&C is considered pretty "progressive" as is Portland. That is not really a positive for me, except for what I said before about people generally caring about ethics.

Portland is not super close to my family.

The limited transportability of the degree is also a concern.

Most of the acceptances started going out around this time last year but L&C is about a week behind schedual so I imagine they will start going out either late this week or begining of next.

I'm anxious just because I only have four schools yet to hear from, and L&C is a top school for me. I know that Willamette has begun sending stuff, and Vandy sent something (probably a reject). If L&C sends something I will have one school left to hear from. I can start making decisions and withdrawing from more schools.

I'm curious about this if anyone has some info. I have an interest in Enviro law now but maybe after my first year I'll want to do something totally different. How does L&C stack up in the Northwest in other areas?
