Re: In at University of Houston
Hey. I'm a texas resident. I didn't apply to houston until tonight becasue they sent me an app fee waiver on monday. My stats are URM aa male, 153, 3.31. I applied FT, but included an addendum saying that if there was no availability for FT to be considered PT. What do you all percieve my chances to be this late in the cycle?

So is it good that I still haven't heard anything?? I'm an out-of-state PT applicant...or are they figuring out all the in-staters first before they get to me??

You are below both their FT medians so you're not a sure thing but I imagine being URM will help considerably. And as far as being late in the cycle, UH hasn't exactly been cranking out lots of acceptances thus far so I don't think you are in a disadvantaged position in that respect.lewis louis wrote:Hey. Plus they pride themselves on over a quarter of their class being minorities so that's good for you.

My status just went to "In Review" today. How slow has their turnaround time been? Am I gonna have to wait another month?

Mine went into 'Review' on the 10th. My status was complete for a month.
I'm interested in their turn around from review to decision as well, and I'm too lazy to read through 37 pages of posts.

Anyone getting scholarships yet? I've been crossing my fingers since my acceptance came back in mid-December.

I wouldn't expect anything until March or April, and, looking at LSN, all scholarship recipients had 166+ LSAT scores.millieb wrote:Anyone getting scholarships yet? I've been crossing my fingers since my acceptance came back in mid-December.

I've been sitting "in review" since 1/7 and then my status check switched to 2/2. But I'm also a splitter.madmartigan wrote:Mine went into 'Review' on the 10th. My status was complete for a month.

Re: In at University of Houston
As I said earlier ITT, I had a friend that went DR-Denied a couple of weeks before they mailed the formal letter. But now that I think about it, that was right before the holiday break. Is there a mailings section on the checker? If not, then just call.happy187 wrote:just to make it official. maybe i'm hoping that not getting the letter might mean I was actually WL'd not denied but I doubt it.moonmaster3 wrote:why would you want your rejection letter?happy187 wrote:i was dinged via tracker a while ago but yet to get the little letter in the mail. is weird for the letter to take over a month?
Still keeping my fingers crossed they send out a bunch of DRs tomorrow. Complete late November, IR 1/5, date change IR 2/5

I don't know what the deal is. I submitted in October, went complete in early November, status updated to complete again on status checker 12/2, then updated to complete again on 12/15, then finally went to review 2/1. I sat complete for almost three months before I finally went in review. I called the admissions office and they said that since I'm ED I should hear something back before the end of February. Houston doesn't seem to be in too big of a hurry.

Re: In at University of Houston
I applied to UH on Christmas and I hadn't been sent a status checker email, so I called UH around the first of this month and asked them what was up. They had NO idea what I was talking about and were actually very asshole-ish about it. I had to painfully and slowly explain to their administrators that I had paid my money, sent in all my materials via LSAC, and hadn't heard a peep from them about incomplete/complete/review/non-review on my application. They were very defensive and standoffish and tried to blame me for the problem. I gave them my info and they promised they'd call me back once they "got to the bottom of it". No response that day, but later that night a "status checker" email is sheepishly slipped into my inbox with an apology from the admissions office for not processing/losing my app in the shuffle. As a University of Houston undergrad student, I'm familiar with this kind of bungling, because UH has one of the biggest deficit sin the country in terms of dollars spent per student via administration. So, now that I'm so far behind, I'm thinking I've lost my chance at one of those few remaining spots. Awesome. Go Coogs.

Well, I'm not certain if UH is still your #1 choice, but just know I'm rooting hard for you to get into where ever you desire! You've been missed my friend.

Thanks man, I appreciate the good vibes.
I kinda disappeared and wrote off the law school thing after my underwhelming LSAT and subsequent busted engagement.

Glad to hear it! I remember the Feb test score story. I still want to slap that girl! But, above everything, you were a solid poster and a good guy. Here's hoping we both get where we're going!DonnyMost wrote:Wow, didn't know anybody knew me around here.Mr. Matlock wrote:DONNY!!!!!DonnyMost wrote:I applied to UH on Christmas and I hadn't been sent a status checker email, so I called UH around the first of this month and asked them what was up.
