As the cycle goes on, these schools that are holding out are going to have to accept people around their medians... I mean, how else would they have those medians if they just accepted numbers way above..?! The wait is starting to get crazy now though as it gets later and later.......

so based on the responses here, it looks like the software isn't down. I'm still blank. Also, if the software was down, I don't think we'd still be able to log in and see all the of the other information.

Maybe they're updating a batch of applications?

Fl resident here.

Hope restored. LOL.

I think I hope you're right... who knows, I'll post up here if I find any good news out, or other news...
Based on LSN a lot of the more borderline acceptances start coming out around now, not so much before late Feb/early Mar though.

well i mean in state URM you're going to have a big boost on both of those, even if your #'s are low.

based on the #'s of what ive seen here, they look like acceptances. however we dont know obviously. hopefully good news for all of you guys though.

I have been reviewed by committee: decision pending since 2/6. In-state 160/3.65, is anyone in the forum still with the same status?

Florida law doesn't let state schools consider race in admissions decisions as of a couple of years ago, so I wonder how the whole urm thing is handled.

Either way, I hope these are acceptances and not rejections for everyone.

It's called "One Florida" and was put in by Jeb Bush.

http://www.chicagotribune.com/topic/bv- ... 7659.story

Florida`s two public law schools are attracting fewer Black and Hispanic applicants, revealing the first glimpse of how they might be affected by Gov. Jeb Bush`s "One Florida" plan abolishing race-based admissions.

So far, law schools at the University of Florida and Florida State University have avoided the steep drop in minority applicants that foreshadowed devastating declines in minority law students in California and Texas four years ago.

Under One Florida, public law schools -- as well as all public graduate and professional schools -- are trying to maintain racial diversity without being able to consider race. The controversial measure, passed last winter, drew protests that it would bleed diversity from Florida`s graduate programs.

--LinkRemoved--

1. Eliminate Race and Ethnicity as a Factor in Admissions Decisions. Florida's state university system is committed to diversity. However, diversity can be achieved without having to make race or ethnicity a factor in admissions decisions. State universities now rely on other race-neutral socioeconomic factors in admissions decisions that can be indicative of race or ethnicity - factors such as income level, geography, special talents and whether an applicant is a first generation college student. Utilizing these factors without regard to race or ethnicity, Florida universities can continue to achieve the level of diversity desired, while providing a legally sound statewide policy of admissions.

--LinkRemoved--

Florida's ban on race-based college admissions hasn't reduced the number of minorities accepted into the University of Florida's law school next fall.

UF's Levin College of Law just finished picking next fall's new law students, the first under Gov. Jeb Bush's One Florida plan that forbids public universities from considering race, ethnicity or gender when picking students. The university found its proportion of blacks and total minorities is about the same as last year, officials said Friday.

...

One Florida will apply to all graduate and professional schools for the first time next fall, with no alternative plan to buffer the impact. Law schools are considered the most likely to struggle for diversity because they traditionally relied more heavily on racial preferences. Florida's other public law school, at Florida State University, is not finished selecting next fall's class and won't know for another couple of weeks how its pool of accepted students looks.

Btw, I'm not supporting nor am I against the measure, I'm just saying the law was passed and is in effect since 2001.

I don't know how they handle the URM thing, and the application asks for race, so who knows. They also say they use "other factors" to consider minorities.

Believe me, I'm a hispanic male, so this troubled me.

Just sharing.
