Thanks man. I'm really considering UF because it doesn't have that much competition regionally from other schools besides FSU and Miami. I know you're at Michigan but can you shed a little light on job prospects in Florida (and the Southeast) coming out of UF Law? Thanks a bunch man.
I did my first year studies at UF and transferred to Mich after my 1L year. I think the job prospects are the best in Florida with some limited penetration to Atlanta/DC. I think that if you have biglaw on the mind, that you should be realistic about your prospects. It takes Top 25% or so to be assured biglaw, and UF was more competitive at the top than I anticipated.

This economy is taking it's toll on UFLAW, for sure. My friends have placed pretty well all around Florida, ATL, and even in DC / NYC. But these biglaw gigs are the exception, not the norm. I know former classmates that have jack crap for job prospects right now. The upshot is that UF is cheap and in-state tuition isn't too hard to get after the first year.

Congrads bro. I'm a Gator to the core, but UF Law is testing me. If I don't hear from them by March 1, I probably will withdraw my application. I have other options.
Thanks man. I'm sure you'll hear soon. Is UF one of your top choices? Can you tell me a little bit more about it? Thanks man.
Yup, UF is one my top choices. I graduated from UF a few years ago, and I want to return to Florida. I'm originally from Virginia. I applied to the big three in Florida, and a few other southern and Virginia schools. I might be a little impatient, but it has been over a month and half, and other than some email updates, nothing from UF. Considering the size and rep of UF Law, I thought they would have a pretty quick turn around based on the hard numbers for the most part. Honestly, the more I hear about the troubles with the UF faculty, drastic and deep budget cuts to the point they can't offer a lunch at an admitted students day, and declining job prospects, the more and more I wonder if I really want to go to UF if I get admitted. My dream of returning to Florida may have to wait a while. I'm still waiting on FSU too, while I got offered 20k at Miami.

I haven't heard anything from UF either, despite getting an acceptance phone call from FSU about a month ago having sent my application the week prior.

Two things to keep in mind - they are still accepting applications and we were quoted a late March/early April decision. I'd rather have to wait a month or two and at least think that an admissions panel might have deliberated over my application versus hearing back immediately once a school just looked at my numbers.

if "decision pending" = WL/hold and "decision in transit" = acceptance (as of now), if i'm still at "all docs received" and people who have gone at that stage AFTER my date (1/15) have already gotten "decision pending" or "decision in transit" what should i guess about my current status? good or bad?

I've been complete since January 22. Sent application January 7. Still listed as "All Required Documents Received."

My status checker page doesn't list having paid the $30 app fee, even though I paid $31.75 (Image) on the 22nd. Not sure if that's normal.

Mine still doesn't and I was accepted last week, so don't worry!

That is quite interesting. However, keep in mind that because of budget cuts, the incoming 1L class is supposedly going to be quite a bit smaller this fall than in past years, at least that is the word on the street around here (at UF for undergrad).

so what is the general consensus on "reviewed by committee; decision pending"? I've been in committee review since the beginning of February and went complete in January..

Have they rejected/WL anyone yet?

that seems to be some sort of WL/hold, however nobody on LSN has actually received a WL letter or some sort

That was my status for about a month but I finally went to "decision letter in transit" on Monday (haven't received the letter yet).
