I'll take one off year between titles any day of the week lol. Plus, Michigan State is the ultimate tease school. Each year is supposed to be "the year" that they'll finally turn the corner and compete in a lack luster Big 10. I'd love for you guys to kick the $%&* out of Ohio State and others, but I don't think it'll ever happen.

msu did good this year though (9-3 regular season, losing to georiga in the bowl wasn't too big of a deal since they were preseason #1). they beat the teams they were supposed to beat which was good because in the past with them, that wasn't the case. they'll be even better in the years to come IMO.gogators wrote:I'll take one off year between titles any day of the week lol. OSU sucks i agree, but why does it even matter? that's why we depend on florida to kick their ass in any sport, any year, year after year

Is anyone else here still under All Required Documents Received? I turned in my app in November and still haven't gone under review. Flordia's addmission office has not been helpful.

Haha, yeah, I'm actually graduating early, so I've only been in Gainesville for three years, and I'm already ready to get out Titletown. Though I will most definitely miss football season come this fall, especially with Tebow and Spikes sticking around for their senior seasons.gogators wrote:Don't worry, I'm in my last semester here in GainesVEGAS too. Engineering though, and it's just about on the bottom of my list. Not because I don't like UF, but 5 years of engineering in Gville takes a toll on you, plus I'm from Boston, so a change of scenery is needed.hopeforthebest wrote:I am in my last semester of undergrad at UF. I've never stepped foot inside the stadium.. Haven't been to a football or a basketball game despite seeing the school win four titles since I've been here.
I like the school and my friends, but nothing in particular makes UF a place I'd particularly want to stay for another 3 years. I want to go to the best school for me.. taking into account programs offered, location, ranking, community, etc.. and UF isn't that for me. It would be nice to pay $10k/yr instead of $35k though.
I dunno. I could've ended up staying here. It's certainly a great choice for anyone who wants to practice in FL.
Oh, and other gators.. did you read that email from Bernie Machen yesterday? Scary. Let me get outta here before the next 10% budget cut. Yikes. I already have to print out my own syllabi.

Yeah, seriously, that e-mail made me thankful that I probably won't be sticking around for 3 more years (unless my cycle goes horribly, and even then, it is debatable). I have no interest whatsoever in practicing in FL, thus my need to escape the state.hannah wrote:I've never stepped foot inside the stadium.. Are you a 2L? I've had a few friends go through and finish up their time at UF, they all had positive things to say....you agree/disagree? I ask just out of curiosity as I don't plan on staying in Gville after this semester.

I'm just not a football person.. nor a partier/drinker.. so there was little draw for me. I'm happy when we win and all.. I just didn't have the desire to sit in the heat/rain for three hours to watch a game. Plus, never did win that ticket lottery. :p
I just went to UF cause it was free and the best school in Florida. It made sense at the time.

I'm a 2L, but I transferred out after my first year. Generally, I enjoyed my 1L year at UF. My main beefs lie with the administration, most notably career services. I think the professors are pretty extraordinary. Are you a 2L? I've had a few friends go through and finish up their time at UF, they all had positive things to say....you agree/disagree? You guys are complaining about a 10% budget cut?
Thank God I'm getting the f out of here.We have recently been directed to prepare various scenarios for a substantial cut in state funding for fiscal year 2009-10. While we have yet to receive specifics, it is clear that the anticipated budget adjustment will, absent other funding sources, have dramatically negative impacts on our students, faculty, staff, campus, and all others we serve. More directly, it is our understanding at this time that the System proposed cut scenario we must prepare for is between 19.6 percent ($44 million) and 31.6 percent ($71 million) of our state general fund appropriation.

I'm hoping to get in there this fall. Plus, you have no idea what kind of crap is going down with the budget. Last year they asked each college to figure out how to cut 6% of their budget. The college of liberal arts and science came back saying that it literally wasnt possible for them to do so without shutting down. of course, now they want them to shave 10% lol.PKSebben wrote:I transferred to the University of Michigan.

In the English department, the professors are not allowed to print syllabi for us because the college can't afford the printing costs....gogators wrote:I'm hoping to get in there this fall. I've had tests printed on thirds of paper. While you try to actually understand that one...apparently the History department simply doesnt have a printer anymore for it faculty to use....they confiscated it and now can no longer print a thinggreen918 wrote:In the English department, the professors are not allowed to print syllabi for us because the college can't afford the printing costs....gogators wrote:I'm hoping to get in there this fall. Re: University of Florida
I'm in undergrad at a different Florida state school and we're having the same issues since the budget cuts are state wide. I heard UF was particularly hard hit, but my school has shaved the course offering down so much that it's nearly impossible for many people to graduate on time. I guess Florida wants everyone on the 5-year plan. In fact, I'm in SG and we've been taking on projects and spending our money (derived from A&S fees and independent of state money) on things the administration should really be paying for. As a result, student programming is suffering. Our state education system is pitiful.gogators wrote:I'm hoping to get in there this fall.
