I just got put on the "preferred" waitlist also. How do you decide that it's worth staying on the list? I already got into Cornell, so I don't know if I should wait around for Georgetown...

Well the question is, would you go to GULC over cornell if admitted to both? If the answer is no, then I'd withdraw.

If your not going to go if you get in, then def withdraw! People like me on their PWL who would go no matter what, would be eternally grateful!

Can anyone on the preferred waiting list say your numbers and when you went complete?

It's so weird, because I've been at 'Complete' since 11/24 and still nothing, and my numbers are right around your all's (167, 3.82). I just don't get why I haven't heard ANYTHING. Even if not the preferred waiting list, at least a regular WL, or even a rejection, just so I could know. What's the deal here?

That doesn't really sound too unusual, it doesn't bode well for an acceptance but you never know, but i'd think you'll be hearing quite soon.

I'll probably visit next weekend in an attempt to move off the Waitlist for Lost Souls (non-preferred)... not sure if it'll make any difference. What do you want from me Georgetown??

170, 3.56.

Still a little surprised by my "preferred wait list" status, considering my other acceptances and softs should have put me over the edge. But maybe my interview wasn't too hot - it seemed to be really awkward (my interviewer implied I had too many questions for her...even though the exact same list of questions went well during my Northwestern interview.)

What's their policy on UG alums? Are they in that special "preferred" preferred waitlist above the rest of us? (and seriously, how many "preferred"s can you put with "waitlist"? Don't they all just mean "maybe"?)

Yea I was a little surprised at my waitlist to, given the consensus on this website that I would get in (3.6 171). And yes there seems to be a select group that is preferred within the preferred waitlist.

people are really quick to say YP. surely the reasons are strategic, but maybe they're not so devious as gaming the us news. maybe with such a huge entering class, they feel the need to be extremely cautious with giving offers to avoid having 100 too many in the entering class, yet they'd like to make some sort of preliminary decision on files for various reasons. i was on the super-preferred WL last year and i didn't have auto-admit numbers by any means. i ended up getting in a few weeks later.

i think i was WLed because i applied at the very end of january and they already had as many offers pending as they were comfortable with.

anyway, last year people got in off all 3 tiers of the WL, so nobody's out of the game yet. good luck and try to be patient. law school admissions is just a grueling process.

Oh I have no doubt that that's what it is. They're trying to make sure they only extend late offers to those who are REALLY serious about attending. When you have numbers that are give decent odds at CCN and lock at MVPB, then GULC may assume that you're heading there. Therefore, they YP you and make you write a LOCI. It's good strategy for protecting their yield rate and not overenrolling.

For those on the plain preferred waiting list, did you email or submit any additional documents to beg for your acceptance???

I got preferred waiting list last week, but took myself off of it. I really did not like the feel for Georgetown in my interview. My alumni interviewer, direct quote, told me: "It's really intense. It will get to you." and that the movie Paper Chase was really about Georgetown law. I also was not a big fan of the huge class sizes, and was accepted with $ into other schools. Wasn't worth it for me.

I had a 3.67 and a 167.
