Waitlist and scholarships?

Post by mjb77 » Tue Jun 12, 2018 1:31 pm

Does anyone know the chances of receiving some type of financial aid or scholarships after being admitted off the waitlist? Also does writing a strong letter of continued interest that states an applicant will attend if admitted, hurt that student's chances of receiving money?

It is possible to receive scholarship money if accepted from the waitlist. You are most likely taking the place of somebody else who declined an offer or "dropped out", so you might be offered their scholarship money although it is not a guarantee.

As for the loci, I don't see why including the fact that you will attend if admitted would affect your chances of receiving scholarship money. If you're on the waitlist, you want to do whatever possible to get into that school so including the fact that it is your top choice can only benefit you.
