Boston College c/o 2021 Applicants (2017 - 2018)

Post by hamshotfirst » Wed Oct 25, 2017 11:34 am

Didn't see a thread for this, so I thought I'd start one! BC is certainly one of my top choices, especially with all of the advances they've been making in BL placement.

According to last year's thread decisions started going out in early November, so hope to hear back soon!

+1

It'll be a serious load off my application-cycle stress if I get an acceptance from them soon.

It says on the status checker that we will be notified when our application is under review. Has anyone gotten such notification?

Submitted today! Hadn't heard anything about scholarship timing from this school (there is so much info about T-14s on here and everything else just kind of gets forgotten) anyone have any info/links?

No, though I believe they have a relatively quick turnaround time once you're under review, so I would guess they'll likely start within the next two weeks.

According to people from last year's thread, regardless of when you're accepted scholarship info goes out around February. I don't know if they'll do something different for this cycle though.

Good luck!

Checking in! I love BC, it's the only school outside of the T14 that I applied to.

I'm curious, did anyone write a "why BC" essay?

I didn't but really starting to regret it. I'm above both 75%s so I really don't want to be YP waitlisted or rejected.

I did, but I've also visited the school in person! I am also at 75th%s for both GPA + LSAT though.
Yea, I'm a splitter so I figured they wouldn't YP me...but I'm also just super paranoid haha. Did you schedule a visit or just show up for a tour? Seeing as I live a few miles away I'm thinking of going over there this weekend.

They were pretty YP-happy last cycle, but I think a lot of that had to do with the fact that it was the first year they rolled out accelerated applications, so they got a TON of high-numbers right off the bat. I bet you're going to get in!

Thank you! I'm actually from a town south of Boston so I was hoping that would make it not look completely random. I'm concerned since they made me list all the other schools I applied to and the others are all reaches. But what are accelerated applications? I didn't get invited to apply accelerated or anything, just plain old regular decision. In fact, I haven't received any emails from them except one saying thank you for applying.

Last year I believe they introduced an invite-only accelerated application option, where you could get an answer back in like a week after applying. A lot of people thought that was why they YP'd pretty hard last cycle, which is something they don't normally do in the first wave (from what I've read at least).

I have no idea if they did it this cycle as well, I applied regular decision as well! Either way, I do believe that first waves will be going out soon!

Ah that makes sense, thank you for the clarification! Best of luck to you!

Checking mylsn.info, since the 13-14 cycle they've started decisions last week of October/first week of November.

I emailed them before I registered for the December test and they made it sound like, unless you specifically request them not to, they hold your application if you're registered for another test. Given that I emailed them before I registered, I'm not sure if they actively look when evaluating though. But they did specifically say that they needed some kind of confirmation that you didn't want them to hold your app. I would email them just to be on the safe side, since you did say you're above both 75ths.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
