For those who finished their interviews... Would y'all mind tell me that how long a question takes?

1 min prep (you can't skip it), 1:30 to answer. 15 min on written question.

I'm in the exact same boat. Do you know if emailing them a Why Texas would be a bad idea?
No idea, would be interested in other views on this also.
I'm going to write one and send it. I couldn't make the Northwestern video interview site work with the available computers, so I'd like to avoid getting stuck using that service again.
I sent one in unsolicited after being complete for about a month and hearing nothing. Conventional wisdom is UT will ask you for one if they want one, but I really wanted UT and got impatient. Worked out in the end.

for people who did the interview already - are the practice questions on Kira different than the ones asked in the actual interview?
I didn't seen any Why Texas or why law practice questions but instead had "tell us about something that funny that happened to you recently" and questions like that in practice rounds

They're different. The actual questions are way more law school focused.

If I'm out of state should I send a Why Texas or will they request one from me?

Got an interview invite, but don't feel like interviewing since I already got into my dream school. Would ignoring the invite be an auto reject? Would a UT scholly help with negotiating at a mid t13?

You should still interview, IMO. It's always nice to keep doors open, and although a scholly at UT wouldn't for sure help your negotiation efforts, it certainly wouldn't help.

Where did you get in, by the way? Congrats!

To anyone that maybe sent in a Why Texas after submitting their app - how did you go about doing this? Did you just send an email saying you wanted to submit additional materials or that you wanted to express continued interest in the school or something like that? I'm OOS, got status checker/complete on 10/30 and no interview request yet so I'm getting a little nervous. GPA above median, LSAT pretty far above 75th. I actually really do like Texas a lot but didnt write a Why Texas because I was afraid it might sound too generic since I never visited or anything and all my info was from the website/promotional materials. I know in the past they asked OOSers for a Why Texas so I figured I might wait for that but it doesnt seem they've done much of that this year.

Yes. I just emailed mine a few days after I submitted my app. It’s always a good idea to send one if you are OOS, and with your numbers you’ll probably get an interview request.

You're right, I will definitely interview. It's never a bad idea to have one in the back pocket just in case- especially a great school like Texas.

Thanks! I will most likely end up at UVA though, unless another school offers some significant $.

Let me know what you decide! UVA and UT are the two schools that I'm looking closely at. I want to practice in Texas, so both make a lot of sense. I'm assuming you got into UVA? I was admitted last Thursday:) I had a 9 day turnout, fun fact. I was super impressed with their speed.

I just bombed the interview -- I did not finish the last written question, and I am super embarrassed. I am generally not a fan of these recorded interviews but, oh well. Hoping I don't get immediately dinged

Those of you who sent an unsolicited Why...

Where did you send it? Just general admissions?

I sent it to admissions@law.utexas.edu, and that got it through just fine.

From everything I have seen, it is a harbinger of good things. When it was discussed at the Admissions open house, they hinted at it being a sign that they liked your app and want to know a little more.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
