I had my JS1, no JS2, was wondering if I should send my (good) fall grades in? Will that delay my file being looked at?

I had my JS1 recently. How many waves of JS2s are in Jan? Could it be more than 1?

Had my JS1 today; I think it went well. It's not customary to send thank-you notes for these, correct?

They had two waves in January and February of 2016.

who was your interviewer?

Tom Robinson. I thought he was good interviewer; he was friendly and asked good questions.

I had a good interview with Tom as well. And no, I did not send any follow-up.

Does sending in updates delay your review? If that's the case I'll feel a bit better seeing people who went complete at the same time as me get JS1s.

A third recommender sent in a letter about a week and half after I went complete (11/20, submitted 10/18), and then I had a logistical email answered a few days before I got my JS1. Since the file review went "fully complete" by 12/04, I'd say that 12/20 actually made pretty good time, although I have to say that my application definitely was sent piecemeal.

Thanks for your response. Not really what I wanted to hear since I went complete before you and only corrected a minor mistake for my app. But I've got stats that should give me a good chance so I'll try not to stress.

How soon after the interview do people hear back (I imagine it differs but just curious if anyone has any thoughts)

Also curious about this. Do people interview and get ghosted until April?

Depends when you got your JS1. If you had it already you would probably, generally speaking, hear back before April.

1) The interviews are softball interviews. They are conversations and they tend to want to get to know the applicant. If they invited you to an interview it means they didn't want to reject you straight off the bat, something clicked, your numbers were really great or all of the former reasons combined.

2) They ask conversational questions that build off original questions. For example, they asked me about a specific part of my resume and then asked about what I planned to do for the time between now and law school. Those questions led to other questions and the conversation became very friendly and engaging.

3) The interviewers are friendly and conversational. They are not looking to trick you or for a "gotcha" moment. They want to get to know you.

Got a JS1, am a non-URM splitter

Late to this but I'm a splitter- GPA below median but LSAT quite high. (Really hoping that helps me...) Anyway- I got a JS1 in November. No JS2, and trying to remain calm and keep expectations reasonable. On the (maybe plus?) side I'm assuming that the first couple of JS2 rounds are likely for the 75 < GPA + LSAT crew. :?

In other news- shout out to all of you on TLS for the amazing positivity and support- it's a good environment to be a part of. Good luck all!!

Thanks everyone! I looked at the spreadsheet from last year. It looks like there was one JS2 in the end of January. So maybe we will have to wait till then at least :)

Hi everyone. My app has been complete for a couple of months, and I'm LSAT > 75th and GPA > 50th, but haven't yet received a JS1. I've been out of school for awhile and have an employer recommendation that I didn't submit with my original app. Do you think there's any benefit to sending in that letter now? It's probably a strong letter. Thanks so much for any thoughts!

I asked MS9 the same question (generally, not for Harvard in particular) and he recommended I wait if I get waitlisted or something. That's what I plan to do for the apps I submitted without one! That said, I did send my employer letter of rec when I submitted my app for Harvard, and my JS1 was almost entirely about my job/professional experience -- both the work that I do and how I operate in a work setting.

Been complete since 10/13 and no JS1. Hopefully a GPA increase from 3.82 to 3.85 helps but I have my doubts since I'm still BARELY below median GPA. If only I did that Academic Writing 1 extra credit Freshman year :x
