Re: University of Washington c/o 2021 | Applicants Thread (2017-2018)
Thank you so much for your reply! I'm going to try to narrow down exactly what I want to do between now and into my first quarter. I do want to keep my options open as much as possible, at this moment, because I know I'll be exposed to a lot and so know my mind will likely change. I'll probably try to meet with career services fairly early in the quarter. I want to make the most of my time in law school from day one. Thanks again, I really appreciate your advice!

Has anyone completed their scholarship application yet? I'm trying to decide if it's appropriate to rework some of my PS, or if what they're looking for is more of a "Why" essay...

Awesome stats! Assuming this week counts as, y'know a week, you shouldn't have much more of a wait based on your in review date.commieprince wrote:New user here, checking in!

Would anyone happen to have any information on how the Gregoire Fellows program works? Seems like an amazing program, but I'm unclear as to how to apply. Any insight?

Call Admissions and ask. My impression is that it's through the regular scholarship application but I don't know for sure, as it started the year after I applied.abujabal wrote:Would anyone happen to have any information on how the Gregoire Fellows program works? Just bumping to see if any decisions came this week.
I am still just under 2 weeks out from A-Day. I was going to call it D or Decision day, but I didn't want the Fates to mistake the D for Ding Day. Anyone else dated 12/18 for In Review?

Is it true that UW doesn't give much merit based scholarship? I am out of state, 3.7 GPA and 167 LSAT. Just found out that admitted students have to write an additional essay just to be considered for scholarship!

Look at the ABA 509 report. Abarequireddisclosures.orgsurfingwithgators wrote:Is it true that UW doesn't give much merit based scholarship? I am out of state, 3.7 GPA and 167 LSAT. Just found out that admitted students have to write an additional essay just to be considered for scholarship!
It's based on the essay, need, merit, and how much money there is. They issue scholarships all at once after the essay deadline closes, and then give out a second round a little later after people withdraw.
Nearly 70% received grants per the 509 report. And if you don't get anything for 1L you may qualify for the $9000 need based grant after a year of not working at all.

Sorry to hear, but it looks like you got in at BC per your posts, which is a great school. Best of luck!dasseeker wrote:I was dinged last Friday or Saturday... Almost certainly for C&F concerns. Ah well.

Thank you, I appreciate that. I am happy with some of the offers I have gotten, but am also disappointed by the number of rejections I've got that I am fairly positive stem from C&F concerns. The problems are all well in the past and I showed clear evidence of reibilation, but I suppose with the increase in applicants this year they have too many qualified candidates to choose from as it is.mcmand wrote:Sorry to hear, but it looks like you got in at BC per your posts, which is a great school. C&F brings in a lot of subjective factors and it's hard to predict how any given school will handle it. You got into law school, and decent ones at that. Don't worry too much about it. Just keep doing what you've been doing so the bar will feel similarly when it comes time for that process.dasseeker wrote:Thank you, I appreciate that. Hey all, I was wondering how long it took everyone to get access to the status check page after applying? I submitted my application on 12/22 and still haven't received an e-mail from UW saying they received my application or access to their status checker.

I think you should call them; I had that problem with another school and they resent it to me.jkg5023 wrote:Hey all, I was wondering how long it took everyone to get access to the status check page after applying? I made the call this afternoon and the good news is they received my application. The bad news is I still don't have a status check e-mail. I can't decide if it's nice that I can't obsessively check my status or torture. When you went complete, did they e-mail you as well as update the status check? I'm getting e-mails from the financial aid office as well as an e-mail on the 9th about the Gates scholarship so I know my e-mail is right.luna2 wrote:I think you should call them; I had that problem with another school and they resent it to me.jkg5023 wrote:Hey all, I was wondering how long it took everyone to get access to the status check page after applying? Thanks, have you been getting e-mail updates as well or are all the updates on the status checker?ocw96 wrote:I submitted on 12/24 and got the status checker email on 12/26.jkg5023 wrote:Hey all, I was wondering how long it took everyone to get access to the status check page after applying? All updates so far are on the status checker. I believe you don't receive any emails until the decision notification, but I could be wrong.jkg5023 wrote:Thanks, have you been getting e-mail updates as well or are all the updates on the status checker?ocw96 wrote:I submitted on 12/24 and got the status checker email on 12/26.jkg5023 wrote:Hey all, I was wondering how long it took everyone to get access to the status check page after applying?
