Should you be worried if you don't get an interview request? My numbers are above both 75ths.

Also just got an interview request. My stats are a bit above their 75ths, but I wouldn't say that they're named scholarship level either, so I don't really know what to think of this. Also, any more insights from those who already interviewed?

What exactly is a marginal candidate? One who has both numbers around the 50% and/or a splitter?

Re: Columbia c/o 2021 Applicants Thread (2017-2018)
I've never posted here before, but in case this info helps anyone: In!
I was a reverse splitter. GPA was above their 75%, but LSAT was below 25% (by only a tiny bit for both).
I'm not an URM. I also didn't get an interview. It was pretty quick. Application was marked complete on the 24th and got in today.
I don't want to think too much of it, but I'm thinking my PS and DS helped a bit considering my LSAT wasn't stellar (I also took it three times), and I had to add an addendum to one of the Character and Fitness questions (nothing major! I never stole, cheated, or killed anyone). My DS also wasn't on any of the topics that most people suggest writing about (e.g. discrimination, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, etc).
I'm obviously not an expert, but if anyone has questions about my app please feel free to ask!
Anywho I am ecstatic

I'm >75% GPA/LSAT and got an interview request too, but I don't think my app is good enough for a named scholly...could I be more likely borderline? I got JS1 but also go that email from berkeley about being moved into their faculty review committee which isn't a good sign...worrying over here

Wow exact same situation over here. K-JD so feeling like that's probably why I didn't get first round/named scholly. As for Berk, maybe it's YP stuff and they're not sure? I didn't send a why Berk so that probably has something to do with it.njames1961 wrote:I'm >75% GPA/LSAT and got an interview request too, but I don't think my app is good enough for a named scholly...could I be more likely borderline? Definitely mixed up named scholarships in general with just the Hamilton scholarship (which is full tuition). I think the LSAT floor is definitely higher for Hamilton than some of the others, like Bulter. Good luck everyone!

I applied early decision and just got asked for fall grades. Is that a good sign or bad one? I will be really grateful if anyone can explain this to me.

I'm in the same boat. Way I'm looking at it, they've haven't dinged me yet and are probably looking for a reason to admit me. No interview request though, which concerns me a little. I'm ED, 3.74/168, non-URM, K-JD.GeriZ wrote:I applied early decision and just got asked for fall grades. Is that a good sign or bad one? I will be really grateful if anyone can explain this to me.

I am actually thinking about the ED contract. I think it's promising a result by December? Hopefully they won't just give out a defer...mwells56 wrote:I'm in the same boat. I learned just today that Columbia asks for a professional letter of recommendation if you've been out of school for more than a year, but that you can write an addendum if you cannot provide a professional letter of recommendation. Did anyone go the addendum route? I strongly prefer my academic recommendations, but I can produce a professional one if I need to.
