174/top 10% at HYP. No hooks at all; have been working for about four years.
Was not expecting an acceptance, and certainly not a Hamilton since I thought it basically required 176+ and I never interviewed.

This cycle feels a lot more competitive, and with less certainty, perhaps because of the increase in applicants. Does anyone else feel the same way? It's not necessarily a bad thing.

I used to chance our numbers at more than likely. After I got that uchi waitlist though.. ugh idkdm1683 wrote:You'll probably get a Butler.ArthurTimothyRead wrote:Also curious about how many they give out! 3.8x and 175, interviewed, no Hammy (yet?)
What would you guys chance me at?
Anyone care to speculate on 4/173/KJD/interview butler chances? I know hammy is out of the question but this cycle seems especially.tough for kjds so Im starting to think I'll be lucky to get any money at all (if I get in)

Re: Columbia c/o 2021 Applicants Thread (2017-2018)
I feel this spiritually. I'm realizing how cocky I was about T6 stuff coming in (and being first wave at NYU just made me MORE cocky) but that UChi WL knocked me on my butt. I didn't think my Columbia interview went very well so now I'm STRESSED even though in any other recent cycle based on what I can tell our numbers would all be basically guaranteed. (My GPA is worse than y'all's but I have 3.5 years of WE so I think our odds are similar)maybeman wrote:I used to chance our numbers at more than likely. Yeah, the named scholarships made me think CCN was in the bag. NYU leaving me on read for four months and Chicago being like “or nah” made me re-adjust my expectations considerably. Hoping Columbia can come through!rachelac wrote:I feel this spiritually. Any ideas as to what causes some people to be admitted in the first day, while others will be admitted this week or next? Is it random? Based on completion or interview dates?

You guys both have Dillards right? Yeah, I don't know whats going on with Uchi, but it seems like they take a lot of people off the waitlist. They just don't want to over-enroll because then they couldn't brag about their small class size! If I was in your position I wouldn't worry. UVA is awesome, and to be able to go there on a full ride would be an incredible opportunity.principalagent wrote:Yeah, the named scholarships made me think CCN was in the bag. As for NYU, you'll definitely hear back soon. I was able to sneak into the second wave, but I am not Dillard-worthy. I'm guessing the only reason they accepted me this fast was because they knew I wouldn't get in anywhere better and thought I'd be a sure-fire matriculation because of that.

Does anyone know how many Hamilton Fellowships there are for each class?

Re: Columbia c/o 2021 Applicants Thread (2017-2018)
Two questions about addenda.
1) I'm currently employed full time but also in the last year of a grad program. I didn't get a work LOR because I had two from my current grad program. But should I send in a work LOR (which I could do)?
2) I failed to notice (still not sure where this is stated, but I've seen it referenced on here a few times) that Columbia strongly recommends an addendum if you took the LSAT multiple times. I took it twice and went up 5 points the second time. Should I email admissions (applied about a week ago) with an addendum or just let it slide?

Are we expecting another wave tomorrow, or have acceptances historically rolled out on a weekly basis after the first two waves?

You should be fine since you're still in an academic program. I would submit the work LOR if and only if you think it'll be excellent.Columbia requires two letters of recommendation to complete your application. We expect applicants currently in school or recently graduated (i.e., applying within less than approximately one year of receiving their degree) to submit two academic letters from faculty who can provide insight about their candidacy. Academic letters should come from individuals who have taught applicants in the classroom or have evaluated applicants in a significant academic capacity. Applicants with substantive work experience who are not recent graduates must submit one professional letter and at least one academic letter of recommendation. While the Committee will accept more than two letters of recommendation, we suggest that applicants use discretion when determining the appropriate number of letters to submit.
5 points isn't a huge jump. I wouldn't bother.2) I failed to notice (still not sure where this is stated, but I've seen it referenced on here a few times) that Columbia strongly recommends an addendum if you took the LSAT multiple times. You have as good a chance as anyone but obviously it's not a sure thing. Good luck.ticket wrote:chance me for a Hammy considering I wasn't included in the Friday wave? 177/3.92, interviewed in November.

We have almost the same stats, but my GPA is a slightly lower 3.9x. I interviewed in December and also haven't heard anything so I'm trying to retain hope. Seems like we still have a good shot.ticket wrote:chance me for a Hammy considering I wasn't included in the Friday wave? 177/3.92, interviewed in November.

Similar stats as well, though slightly higher GPA & lower LSAT. Interviewed in December, too, and haven't heard anything yet.sailcar wrote:We have almost the same stats, but my GPA is a slightly lower 3.9x. 179/3.9x/Early Jan. Interview. I also haven't heard anything, but I imagine I shouldn't expect to for a while, on account of my interview date?
