Well you’re the one being interviewed so unless the alumni says otherwise, I’d dress to impress. I remember for college interviews I showed up with a blazer and dress pants at a Starbucks and the admissions director showed up in hiking clothes because he wanted to head upstate to hike some trails right after the interview. He appreciated I made an effort though!

I had one in the evening at the alum's firm and wore dress pants and a blouse. On a weekend I probably would've done the same, since it's professional but not overdressed.

I wore dress pants and a blouse as well in 95 degrees weather, even the attorneys in his office were dressed casually. You can def stick to business attire & dress to impress without overdoing it/looking stuffy. Good luck today!

Interview was SO FUN. Like the others who’ve done the alumni interview, I’m really even more excited about Northwestern now.

How much does the interview help with the application? I have mine scheduled, but just curious how much stock the admissions committee puts into it.

During my interview with an alumni, I feel like it's more of check in the box (as long as you seem sane and not a douchebag). They said that they like to interview almost everyone if they can to make sure they're making a class that that doesn't have any rude/cold/ppl who do not know how to socialize

Chiming in on the interview....

It was awesome. Relaxed and conversational. My interviewer has had almost the exact career path that I want so it was really cool to be able to ask him about it. Feeling very positive about Northwestern. Met at a coffee shop, I wore a suit, he just had a shirt/tie.

By the way, anyone here going for public interest?

I have an interview dress. It's long sleeve, black, thicker material, not body-hugging, but tailored. TBH search amazon and get something a news anchor would wear. I guess this is too late now, though! sry!

No worries - thanks for the input because basically that's what I wore! A ponte dress, cardigan, dressier/corporette wedges. I think it was just about right.

Also have my interview this Saturday at coffee shop. I was planning on wearing khakis and a nice sweater. now I'm wondering if I'm too casual now.

Probably, if you're really looking to wear a sweater and khakis at least put a shirt and tie under the sweater to dress it up a little. I wore dress pants, a dress shirt, a blazer, and no tie and was comfortable, but I would have felt underdressed if I had worn khakis or a sweater.

Does this mean anything bad for high LSAT scorers this cycle? Or does it somehow imply that there aren't as many high LSAT scores as usual? So confusing.

I’m not sure what it means aside from the fact that they’re seeing something that they don’t like but that GRE-only candidates might be able to solve.

Not sure if this was helpful, but I interviewed on campus last week. I took a tour beforehand, and it was great, but the interview totally took the wind out of my sails. I've been told I'm a decent interviewer, but boy, this was difficult. Chatted with an assistant director of admissions, and she was giving me absolutely nothing. Literally like talking to a wall. So that was definitely a downer. Just be prepared that you may not be able to work off of your interviewer.
