I want to say that at the admitted students dinner the dean of admissions said something like 1200 people were interviewed. I could be completely misremembering, though. I can't find any documentation either. If any other current student wants to chime in please do.AaronCarter wrote:porzingis3 wrote:Does anyone know how likely you are to be admitted if you were invited to interview?

Well, they extend about 900 offers. So if they do 1200 interviews, there’s definitely a solid shot at an acceptance but a ding is certainly possible.

Those sound like HLS numbers to me. Chicago's class of 2020 is 188 people, i am not sure they offer 900 admissions offers (HLS does however).AaronCarter wrote:poptart123 wrote:I want to say that at the admitted students dinner the dean of admissions said something like 1200 people were interviewed. 900 actually sounds fair. They have to compete heavily with HYS, as well as CN, along with full and near full scholarships in the lower T13. Wouldn’t be surprised if their yield isn’t great because of that competition.black_mirror wrote:Those sound like HLS numbers to me. Oh wow, you are right. I apologize! Never could imagine that the yield is 20%.principalagent wrote:900 actually sounds fair. Do you think one should be concerned if they haven't gotten an interview? I submitted in October, am above both 75ths, haven't heard back yet. Not sure if anyone has any insight here...

No major curveballs but I think they try to have a few more ~unique~ questions (i.e. they asked me to complete the sentence "If I had more time, I would . . ."). My only advice would be not to overthink the fun ones! I tried to be deep for a second and then my interviewer literally said "it's not meant to be a trick, you can say you'd watch Netflix or something" haha.njames1961 wrote:any advice, curveballs from anyone who had an interview?

Recently interviewed (submitted ~10/15). Very standard questions, no curveballs. I didn't get a good feel from the adcomm but I'm not expecting to attend unless they accidentally give me a ruby lol

Interviewed a few days ago. Did anyone else have difficulty reading the interviewer or their own performance? I usually know how well or poorly an interview went, but I have no clue about this one. It could have been one of my best interviews or one of the worst. I don't know!

Felt similarly about my interview, but perhaps less upbeat. Definitely didn't feel it could've been one of my best interviews. I was so nervous anyways, I just started spouting prepared answers robot style.SopranoSaxophone wrote:Interviewed a few days ago. Agree with Platopus, the UChicago interview was definitely the most personable.Platopus wrote:My interviewer was also very professional, but I didn't think i was getting the cold shoulder. I thought my interview was actually one of the most personable of all mine so far. Im from Chicagoland tho, so maybe I just had a little more to connect to. Either way, I wouldn't read into too muchDickens wrote:Felt similarly about my interview, but perhaps less upbeat. Definitely didn't feel it could've been one of my best interviews.
