Re: UChicago c/o 2021 Applicants (2017-2018)
That really sucks that UChicago is hard on the UGPA of its own students during their law school admissions process. Not applying this cycle because still in undergrad there. Yeah, and a 4.0 is impossible there. Just not gonna happen. Knew about the grade deflation before coming here so not surprised. Still a GPA 3.5 at UChicago and a GPA 3.5 at University of Mississippi is not the same thing at all. Sorry no disrespect to Ole Miss but took some classes there and an A was no problem. You really earn your A at UChicago.

Congratulations to everyone who got interview requests! I haven't yet myself, did everyone get emails followed by status checker updates?

Re: UChicago c/o 2021 Applicants (2017-2018)
My application only went under review a week ago. For those who got interview requests, did you go complete/under review on the earlier side? I'm above the 75th on LSAT and really slightly below the 25th on GPA so a little concerned it could be numbers based, but hoping it's just because I went complete a little later

Damn. Not in the first round for JS1s or Chicago interviews? This hurts, T14.

Went complete on 10/5. I’m not actually worried at this point. Chicago is possibly my #1 choice, so I’m just hyper-attentive to anything UChi. Haha.zachbp13 wrote:When did you submit? No interview yet for me either, but only applied a few weeks ago. I *did* go UR1 today and was absurdly excited. If I ever actually get in I'll probably have a stroke. Congrats and good luck to those who are getting first round of interviews!!

You rock, Platopus. Many thanks.Platopus wrote:Interview questions, scooped from the c/o 2020 thread:
Why law?
Why law now?
Why Chicago?
What am I doing between now and law school (I was a December graduate from UG)?
Resume related questions (questions about specific items or bullet-points on your rezzy).
Have you ever had a time when you were out of your element or comfort zone?
What is your greatest accomplishment?
If you could go back in time and redo one thing in your life, what would it be?
Discuss a memorable class or moment in a class.
Why did you choose your undergrad?
What is your preferred work style?
What do you do in your free time?
How would your professors describe you?
How would your peers describe you?
How would your coworkers describe you?
Do you have any questions for me?
"Who most influenced your decision to go to law school?"
Tell me about a challenge you faced?
Tell me about your current job.
Any points you want me to especially emphasize with the admissions committee?
"What is on your bucket list?"

Congrats to everyone who received their Interview Invite. I am hoping someone who has scoured past threads a little more than I have can provide insight on moving to UR 2 without an Interview Invite? Is this considered UR 2 or UR 1.5? How has this been interpreted in the past? Thanks!

Generally enjoyable interview, exactly 20 minutes, more specific-to-me questions about work, my PS, etc, than I expected based on the list (though I do have 3 years out so that might vary). My interviewer said "why law" is their standard opener.

Same. What's the general consensus on whether getting an interview is required for admission?emilyLl wrote:Also UR2, no invite.newyork14 wrote:+1TheDuke0fEarl wrote:Congrats to everyone who received their Interview Invite.
